Mavericks Sign SP Johan Santana:

The euphoria surrounding a big-name deal can sometimes overshadow the deal itself. Occasionally a team will mortgage its future to make a big splash, though no one in UT Arlington was worried about that today as the club finalized terms with Johan Santana.

Santana will earn $30,514,285 per year over 7 years.

So far in his career, Santana has collected 134 wins and 58 losses and has recorded an ERA of 3.18 and struck out 2488 batters while pitching 1758 innings.

Star Upset over Hollywood Flop:

Frankie Frisch tested the waters of Hollywood this offseason, with a supporting role in the big budget action film, "Million Dollar Crazy". He was all smiles at last month's premier, posing on the red carpet for tabloid photographers.
Unfortunately for Frisch, the film did not enjoy the kindest of reviews. Critics have universally panned the movie, calling it "The Modern Day Ishtar." Frisch's acting was also not well received, with one critic calling his performance as Sergeant Dick Grimes "pathetically laughable," and saying, "...he should stick to baseball."

The Portland Pilots' second baseman has yet to comment on whether or not he'll reprise his role as Grimes in the sequel announced earlier this week.

Most friends find that move unlikely as Frisch has taken the critical panning harshly. One friend, wanting to remain anonymous was quoted as saying, "Frankie has a big ego and was really hurt by the criticism of his acting. There is no way he will be doing a sequel."

Alou Makes 300 Mark: He has done it!

Felipe Alou has reached the 300 home run mark. He did it today, but the Charlotte 49ers still dropped the game to the Kentucky Wildcats by the score of 5-4.

"Number 300 was hard to come by. I think the pressure was getting to me a little bit. I got a call a few days ago from a couple of guys that have been through this and they just said, 'Keep going, have some fun. Just be you.' I think that helped me a little bit, having those guys make a call to me and try to settle some of the nerves down."

On his historic day Alou was 1-for-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

In his career Alou has racked up 1405 hits with a .287 average and .334 on-base percentage. His numbers include 286 doubles, 20 triples, and 300 home runs, along with 746 runs scored and 907 RBIs.

For his career Braun has hit at a .295 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 894 hits, 130 doubles, 15 triples, 300 home runs and 670 RBIs.

Trout Launches Number 300:

It's official. Mike Trout of the Kentucky Wildcats hit his 300th home run tonight.

The Kentucky Wildcats took on the Ball State Cardinals and downed them 7-2, but the big story of the night was the milestone home run for Trout. He rounded the bases with a smile and politely stepped on home plate and walked back to the dugout.

"300 is a big number, and I am thankful for the ability to get to this milestone. But it's all about the team today, my accomplishments are just one piece to the Wildcats puzzle."

The Wildcats center fielder went 3-for-4 with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in as the Kentucky Wildcats topped the Ball State Cardinals.

In his career Trout is hitting .308 with 1074 hits, 300 home runs, 781 runs scored and 774 RBIs.
