Most of my roster for UTBA II are new recruits. Only Rolando Bohol and Rey Bautista have previously been part of the team back in UTBA I. Hopefully Bautista will perform better now with the higher rating that he got in TBCB 2.5.
Hopefully this team will fare better that the last time lol ![]() Quote:

Trying to tidy a few things up before we get started.
Just checked over the entire UTBA db making sure all fighter ratings are correct and making sure all team caps are good. The Coventry Hitmen & Juggernaut need a ring girl. Let's see if we can help them out. If we don't select one for them, when we visit their home canvas, we'll have nothing to look at. Going to split the six divisions into two conferences....Gold/Silver, just like the old format. I'm going to move the 10 week schedule to a 12 week schedule. I suggested a 6-3-3 format to kenyan. 6 division matches, 3 inter-division matches(same conference) and 3 inter-conference matches per season. This will give the chance of an individual title swapping between the two conferences during a season. Something we didn't have with the old. The 6-3-3 is a little unbalanced within your own conference but it will even out over the course of three or so seasons. Also now you will face all the teams from the other conference in 4 seasons once. Making some changes to the aging once again to accommodate for the extra two weeks. Also working on the draft numbers for the next 10 seasons. I want to have that done before we start the new league. Some years there will not be a lot of higher rated fighters added. Also their will not be a lot of 1's added either. I want to post the future draft numbers so everybody can plan their team building strategy well in advance and not wait for me to post something when it is close to draft-time. Also I mentioned this sometime back but didn't have any feedback, I was thinking that instead of me picking the fighters that will be added to the draft pool, I'd just post the overall rating and whoever drafts or claims on waivers that rating, I'll let them name the fighter that matches the rating aquired. I sent the UTBA II database out to Romy a little while back. If he has your email addy, I'm sure he'll be sending you a copy ASAP. Kerwin has also volunteered to host the bout logs again. |

Since we have a cap, why isn't the entire data base available for future drafts?

Introducing the Baltimore Binks
BINK GAZETTE May 21, 2008
The Baltimore Binks are preparing for their inaugural season in the prestigious UTBA II league. The bouts will be held in the newly-renovated Baltimore Civic Center, located in the heart of this quaint city. There are plenty of amenities for fight fans. A stroll of but a few minutes south takes the fan to the Inner Harbor, where restaurants and shopping abound. A few blocks further south is Federal Hill, known for its many bars. Less than a mile from the Civic Center, to the east, is Little Italy with its culinary masterpieces. The fight fan that is looking for a bit of entertainment could seek out Baltimore’s famous Block either before or after the fights, located just a few blocks away, and enjoy a cool beverage among many other delights! ![]() Team owner Mikehoudini leased a warehouse in lovely Pigtown, a mile southwest of the Civic Center, and converted it into a gym and training facility. Mack Lewis, an institution in Baltimore boxing circles, provided his wisdom and will be associated with the team, ensuring that his stable of fighters are available if needed to fight or serve as sparring partners. The Bink roster is as follows, with records from another universe: HW (7)Hasim Rahman 45(36)-6(4)-2, (3)Keith McKnight 43(30)-4(4) LHW (8)Melio Bettina 82(36)-13(3)-3, (7) Oakland Billy Smith 57(33)-24(9)-4 MW (9)Henry Hank 62(40)-31(1)-4, (4)Max Resch 50(37)-9(8)-2 WW (10)Cocoa Kid 177(47)-56(7)-11, (5)Tommy West 28(22)-12(6)-9 LW (5)Al “Bummy” Davis 65(46)-10(3)-4, (6)Buzzsaw Yamabe 26(18)-8(3)-2 FW (4)Jose Badillo 23(15)-7(3), (8)Young Corbett II 68(47)-23(12)-16 BW (7)Boots Monroe 32(23)-7(3)-1, (5)Danny O'Sullivan 33(17)-9(5)-1 Fly (6)Jackie Brown 108(40)-24(5)-9, (6)Chokchai Chockvivat (39(19)-5(3) Team captain Hasim “the Rock” Rahman, a Baltimore native, assisted Mike and Mack with the selections, and offered the following assessment of the team: “The Binks have an international flair, as we recruited far and wide to achieve the desired makeup of this squad. We recruited in Wales, the United Kingdom, Germany, Puerto Rico and Thailand, and in the states from Connecticut to Hawaii. This team is comprised of scrappers and just might surprise a few of the more established teams in this league. “Starting with the heavyweights, Keith McKnight could be a sleeper! He has great power and just needs some more meat on his bones, and I’ll be working on that! A lot of folks think his record is padded, but he holds two wins over Dangerous Danny Wofford, who recently fared well in the Terrible Twos and Thundering Threes tourneys. With my thunder and Keith’s lightning, we might surprise a few fighters this season, yessiree! “Then we have some solid light heavies! Melio Bettina hails from Bridgeport, CT, and the southpaw is durable and should give his opponents fits. Sure, he was KOd in 59 seconds by Gus Lesnevich in Madison Square Garden in some make-believe universe, but that was just a lucky punch! Lennox knows about those! Oakland Billy Smith is known as “Boardwalk” because he lives in Atlantic City, NJ. He’s another scrapper, known for taking on tough guys like Archie Moore (4 times). These guys are rock-solid! “Henry Hank, one of our gems, anchors the middleweights. The Detroit slugger has a solid chin and is almost indestructible! They won’t be putting him down! And Max Resch, a southpaw slugger from Berlin, might be another one of our sleepers! “Cocoa Kid is our welterweight ace, a man who’ll take on all comers! This Puerto Rican native now resides in New Haven, CT, a hotbed of boxing, and we expect great things from him! Our young Welshman, Tommy West, may well surprise some guys that’ll think he’s easy meat. He’s got game, and we’re glad we lured him to Baltimore! “Bummy Davis was born in Brooklyn, almost another country in its own right, and lives in Brownsville. His booming left hook may well flatten a few guys that underestimate him! He put away Bob Montgomery in 63 seconds at the Garden, a record at that time for that fake uni! His best defense is a good offense, and he’ll be exciting! Buzzsaw Yamabe is no wannabe! Born in Japan but living in Honolulu, we convinced him that the wonderful Baltimore weather would far outshine his home state, and we’ll be feeding him sushi to keep him at razor-peak efficiency! “Young Corbett II demolished another kid, Terry McGovern, twice in that fake uni, and the Denver native should anchor the featherweight class. Jose Badillo, a southpaw from Puerto Rico, loves the balmy Baltimore weather, and has a lot of heart! “Boots Monroe’s real name is Horace, so you know he learned how to fight at an early age! What were his parents thinking? Horace? He’ll do just fine as a bantamweight, and will mentor young Danny O’Sullivan from the United Kingdom. Danny will pack the house on Saint Paddy’s Day, and should bring a lot of the Baltimore Irish out for his fights. So what if he was born in London? “Jackie Brown is a classy flyweight from Manchester, who’ll be cheering on our championship indoor soccer team, the Blast, when he’s not putting on a show in the ring. Chokchai Chockvivat is a name that’ll drive folks crazy. We just call this Siamese slugger Chocky or CC. He’ll play havoc with the sportswriters! “So there you have it! We got a couple young ‘uns from Mister Mack’s old gym that will be sparring and hoping for a shot. George Chaplin will be a sparring partner, when he’s not working at Lutheran Hospital. We almost selected him, and he just needs a bit more seasoning. Larry Middleton is a stylish youngster that may make a name for himself, and there’s this spitfire of a welter, Vince Pettway, who would like to get in on the action! “I hope folks will come out and see us. We’ll be scrappy and competitive, I guarantee it!” The Rock may have been a bit optimistic in his enthusiastic assessment. How will the Binks fare, with a neophyte owner and a diverse team makeup? Time will tell! The record for most consecutive losses is somewhere greater than 1 but less than 148, and the holder of this dubious honor is salivating at the prospect of some day taking on the Binks. There’s only a one letter difference between scrappy and crappy! We do know that Amina Sade will wow the fans between rounds and fights. Bink fever, catch it! You’ll only wish you died! I agree
I would be happy to help with waiver or draft pools, if you need input or assistance in compiling either, Scot.

Just to clarify, I like the idea for the draft but not the waivers.

![]() Thanks for the suggestion Mike and your idea will be implemented. I'll do two pools this time around in the league, a draft pool and a waiver pool. The draft pool will list fighter ratings but with no names combined with fighters that reside in the current waiver pool. The draft pool will only be used at draft time. The waiver pool will only contain fighters with names and will be the only list of fighters that teams can draw on for waiver purposes. I'll set up an initial waiver pool at the mid point of season 1 with 8 fighters rated between 3-7 in each weight class. The following seasons and drafts will take care of supplementing fighters into the waiver pool all by itself. One of the new rules that will be in effect in the UTBA II: Any fighter that is released from a team into the waiver pool in one season and not used (picked up on waivers or drafted) at any point during the next season (this includes waiver claims before the season begins) will automatically be retired from the league |

Boxing Kangaroos Advertiser
BOXING KANGAROOS ADVERTISER VOL 1, NO 1,
Welcome to the first edition of the BOXING KANGAROOS ADVERTISER, the journal which will keep you informed about progress of the UTBA Boxing Franchise BOXING KANGAROOS. The team will be based in the Central Victorian City of Bendigo (Australia), which has a population of 100,000 inhabitants, and was established during the gold rush of the 1850's. Appropriately, the City was named after the British Bareknuckle Boxer, Bendigo Thompson. The team has adopted the colours of Bendigo of Blue and Gold, with Blue trunks and robes with gold trim. Home stadium is the Bendigo Stadium which has a capacity of 2,000 and is sponsored by Schweppes. The Mechanics Institute Building in the suburb of California Gully has been leased as the Training Gym and Home Office of the team. Our Staff Are: General Manager: Shane Macleod, History as Ringside Expert within the Boxing Universe, will take on the job with passion and committment. Ringcard Girl: Lola Montez, Has frequently toured the pubs and goldfields of Bendigo, so she has been hired as our Ringcard Girl. I'm sure the boys will be happy about our choice here. Home Announcer: Howard Leigh, Much respected Announcer from Melbourne will bring his own brand of magic to Bendigo. Trainer: Johnny Lewis, Trainer of Jeff Fenech, Jeff Harding and Kostya Tszyu, need I say more. Comes from Sydney, NSW. Cutman: Cassius Green, Recruited from the USA, will add his enormous international experience to our team. Team Captain: Bert Spargo, nicknamed The Bendigo Boy, was the obvious choice for Captain. Even has a street named after him in the suburb of Golden Square, Bendigo. The Roster: HW) Bill Farnan (5), Born near Heathcote in the Greater City of Bendigo, Farnan is a Foundry Worker who hits hard and often. Lookout for numerous KO's from him. HW) Walter Nuesel (7), Der Blonde Tiger from Germany will add his experience to this team. When he meets Max Schmeling in the ring expect fireworks, as Walter said he'd like nothing better than to beat his countryman and fierce rival. LHW) Anthony Mundine (6), certainly brings flair and theatrics to the team. Will be interesting when he fights his Dad Tony Mundine during the season. Anthony stated he will not hold back. From Redfern, NSW. LHW) Danny Green (7), Hard hitting West Australian, Again, expect many KO's from this brutal slugger. MW) Sam Soliman (7), Exceptionally skilled pugilist from Melbourne, adds that touch of class to the team. A true gentleman outside of the ring. MW) Ritchie Sands (3), Brother of Dave Sands, he hits hard and will be hoping to score a few KO's during the season. From Kempsey, NSW. WW) Gary Jacobs (6), recruited from Scotland. Will add that Scottish toughness and grit to the team. WW) Julian Holland (5), Local Bendigo lad, hits hard and will have many fans come along to his bouts. Farrier by trade. LW) Herb McCoy (7), Highly skilled and underrated boxer form Melbourne. Says he's looking forward to the drive up the Calder Freeway. LW) Frank Flannery (3), Adds toughness and a genuine mean streak to the squad. Hails from Melbourne also. FW) Calvin Grove (6), Big name, highly skilled American recruit. Hits hard and often. His vast experience in the USA will only benefit our team. FW) Bert Spargo (5), Team Captain and local Bendigo legend. Will fight his heart out every time he enters the ring. BW) Jimmy Carruthers (10), Our Marquee signing from Sydney, NSW. Arguably the most talented boxer in our team. Southpaw. BW) Elley Bennett (8), Queensland Aboriginal who will get more than his fair share of KO's. Along with Carruthers forms a formidable Bantamweight duo. FLY) Benny Lynch (9), Much has been said in the local press about this tough recruit from the Gorbals in Glasgow, Scotland. Possible UTBA World Champion? FLY) Hussein Hussein (6), former Australian Olympian who hails from Sydney. Will add great support to fellow Flyweight, Lynch. Volume two will feature the results and a wrap up of round one of the UTBA.

As the league progresses, there may be dropouts and defunct teams being replaced by expansion teams. Experienced (although maybe lousy) fighters on the waiver wire may be attractive for an expansion team instead of filling a roster w/ rookies. UTBA-I had a suggested rule of manditory retirement after 3 seasons of inactivity. This rule was never really implemented due to the addition of the Minor League and its draft. I don't think that a 2 season rule will clog the waiver wire too much. |

*EDITAfter just checking the db, if I was to add 95 new fighters to the draft pool each season, the remaining db would last for the next 50 UTBA seasons. Last edited by SAL; 05-22-2008 at 12:54 AM. |

As far as the ratings that will be added in each years draft, I'm going to add them based on a percentage compared against the total db of fighters left remaining. |

I spoke to soon on this. The 12 week format I proposed to k_c is not going to work. We'll stay at a 10 game week season with two matches against each of your own divisional rivals, two teams out of your division but in your conference and two matches in the other conference.
