An interesting subplot in this game for me: Frank Lampard. Gerrard and Crouch have both been left out to avoid suspensions - but Lampard, also booked, hasn't. If Hargreaves plays well, who plays in the next game? Gerrard-Lampard? Lampard-Hargreaves? Gerrard-Hargreaves? I'm biased, but I can't see Gerrard being left out when it matters, particularly as he's been one of the better players so far (1st half vs Paraguay, in particular). Also of course, a booking for Lampard means he's out anyway. A bit of a message from Sven, maybe - I can't afford for Gerrard to be suspended, but Frank... meh.

In other news, I see mgsports79 is on the OOTP boards now. Anyone remember him from the FM/EHM boards?

If not, you are in for a treat. He's stellar.

Interesting. People in England drive like New Zealanders when an important sports event is on ....

Don't think I can do it. I have a middling connection here in the sticks and it takes far too long for a reload for me to keep up on many of the conversations. However, I will give it a go as I am unemployed and I have nothing better to do.

Depends whether it is a one-day or a two-innings match.

In a one-day match (usually 50 overs or Twenty20), one team bats first until they either lose all ten wickets or complete their 50 overs. The second team then bats and if they reach the number of runs needed within the overs allotted, they win the game. Otherwise if they run out of overs short of the target total, or lose all ten wickets, they lose and the first team wins.
If the two teams run total at the end of a game (whether because the second team have completed their allotted overs or they are all out) are tied, the game is tied.
There is also a no result, which is when a game is abandoned due to rain.

In a two-innings match (Test matches, domestic competitions), the game lasts for as long as prescribed in the playing regulations (for example 5 days in a test), or until one team wins after passing the total set by the other in the second innings (or if team one bats twice and can't surpass team two's first innings total they win by an innings, like if a team batting first can't pass the team batting second in baseball, the game ends after 8 1/2 innings).

If the prescribed number of days are completed without one of the two team's reaching the target, the game is a draw.
A tie can happen if the scores are tied after each team have batted twice, and the team batting last is all out (if they are tied and time runs out it is still only a draw).

The sticks=population less than 4,000. No broadband available in the town. 1 grocery store. I have to drive an hour to buy CDs (unless I want country). The only restaraunts we have are McDonalds and the local cafe. And only McDonalds because we are on the major North/south highway.

Its a good place to be from, but not a good place to be.

We routinely had school canceled because the buses couldn't drive on the country roads because of snow blowing across the roads. Kids in my school brought guns in their trucks, not because they were going to kill people, but because they came straight in from hunting to class. I know more people with farms than people with Lexuses.
