Also I am unsatisfied with how bad post-prime makes fighters, so I decided to move all of them back to prime and adjust them with the movement in weight chart on cornerwork. When a fighter goes to post-prime I'll adjust them as if they are moving up one weight and then when he goes to end I'll adjust them one more class.

This drops them about 1 rating point with each adjustment so that's a little more fair then the seemingly 6 rating point drop with post-prime.

When I retire a fighter I will adjust them back to normal.

Jackson cruises to 7th defense

June 28, 1908

Peter Jackson (18-3) wasted no time in his second bout with #5 Dixie Kid (15-12-5) scoring a KO3 this time instead of the UD15 that happened the last time these two met.

Jackson dropped Kid late in the second round and Kid got up but never recovered. Kid went down again early in the 3rd and then for good a few seconds later.

Jackson won his 16th straight bout after starting out 2-3.

On the undercard

LW - Dave Holly (10-5-6) UD10 Arthur Chambers (9-2)
HW - Nick Burley (13-7) UD10 Morris Grant (11-15-5) (grant fought at post for this fight)
HW - Larry Temple (12-0) KO10 Charles Hadley (15-13-3) (Temple stepped up to HW for this win) **note, obviously I created Temple a little too good as a 6 rated fighter, so I dropped him to a 4 after this fight**
HW - Bill Squires (10-11-1) UD8 Sid Russell (7-4) (Russell fought pre for this club fight, Squires continues to back his claim for the best 1 rated fighter ever)
FW - Billy Barrett (8-10-3) UD10 Chappie Moran (15-18-2) (Moran fought post and stepped up to FW for this club fight)

I like it, should simulate the slowing down process quite well. You don't even have to only have two slow down phases in their careers but you can age fighters many times if their career lasts way too long like Evander's. Nice

I agree, great idea. It would be really nice if in TBCB 2 the process was more gradual, an example being once you move a fighter to post prime his ratings decrease gradually over the course of the next year(s), like in OOTP, instead of just one big hit. Don't know what type of programming nightmare that would be, but it would be cool.

And as always Mark, great job with the Universe, like death and taxes you can count on a new LBA post every couple of days

Thanks Lee, and it's Mike by the way. Hopefully Andreas will incorporate the gradual decrease into the role playing game.

Both fought in June so they had a 40% chance to fight in July, but neither was chosen to fight. McAllister remains at 3-0 and Gibbons at 2-0.

July 1908 beginners

The beginners are done for July they go 73-12-2 so not too bad of a month.

Moving up to club this month

HW - Frank Herald (5-1), Terry Kellar (4-4), Ned Kelly (4-4)
MW - Billy Manning (5-0)
WW - Jack McGinty (5-0)
LW - Eddie Carroll (5-0), Jack Keenan (5-0), Sammy Smith (5-0)
FW - Johnny Crowe (5-2), Joe Reilly (4-3-1)
BW - Morris Rauch (5-2)

Notice Kellar, Kelly and Reilly really set the world on fire against the tomato cans, they should have a long career.

July 1908 title fights

Slow month for title bouts with only two scheduled, but a busy month otherwise with 170 main and club division fighters fighting.

HW - (LBC) Dominic McCaffrey (21-7-3) vs #1 Joe Jeannette (15-0)
MW - (LBA) Tommy Ryan (32-0-1) vs #8 Frank Klaus (12-4-1)

** Frank Craig was the highest ranked MW scheduled to fight this month but both of his last fights were against Ryan and despite great showings the officials of the LBA decided he needed to win a fight before getting another shot at Ryan.

Laying my Money on Jeannette to take the Title from McCaffrey......A unification bout between he and Jack Johnson would be a hot ticket down the road as well.

I agree ... I really start to get into the guys that make it this far without losing, it doesn't happen often. I actually get a little nervous when Ryan is fighting.

LBA's new rules for post-prime and end stages

The fighters will stay at prime.
For post-prime cf b/s -1, hp -1, kd -1
For end stage, endurance -1, def -1, pl/pm -2

Then I will move them back when they retire

Jeannette completes title run undefeated

July 22, 1908

Joe Jeannette (16-0) survived a knockdown to score a KO10 over champ Dominic McCaffrey (21-8-3) to win the LBC Heavyweight title.

Jeannette dominated the fight from the opening bell winning 5 of the first 6 rounds.

McCaffrey showed a little life dropping Jeannette in the early part of round 7, but Jeannette covered up effective and survived the round.

Less than a minute into the 10th, Jeannette dropped the champ with a left hook and McCaffrey couldn't beat the count.

I had it 86-84 Jeannette at the time of the stoppage.

On the undercard

WW - George Cole (6-7-3) UD10 William Sullivan (8-3-1)
MW - Frank Craig (23-10-2) UD10 Jack Moffat (10-7)
BW - Frankie Neil (14-17-2) UD8 Jack Foy (5-3-1) (Neil at post, Foy at pre for this club fight. Foy stepped up to BW)
FW - Frank Zimpher (6-1) UD8 Young Byrnes (6-4) (both fighters at pre for this club fight)
MW - Bill Slavin (3-20-2) UD10 Dick O'Brien (3-13-1) (Slavin at end for this club fight ... embarrassing loss for O'Brien)
