Pete Lapan

Pete Lapan caught 22 seasons from 1910 to 1931, two in the Major Leagues (1922-1923) and 22 in the minors. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during World War I(VA). He had two cups of coffee with the Washington Senators in 1922 and 1923. He then worked as an attendant at the State Hospital. - bRef Bullpen wiki

Luckymann, this one's for you as he retired in your sim. Heck of a first year he had then steadily erased that WAR every year thereafter...

Given the change in the Player Profile model in OOTP23, I've begun playing the game with a zoomed-in facegen. I hate losing the great uniform work and wish I could at least see the shoulders in zoomed-in view but the new "normal" view to my eye seems like a small head for the body. Plus, I'm generally working on the face anyway...obviously.

Heinie Meine

A fiercely independent individual, Heinie Meine had a curious career in organized baseball. Starting off in the Texas League in 1921 as a spitballer after the major leagues had banned the pitch, the right-handed Meine made one uneventful appearance for the St. Louis Browns in 1922, then waited seven years for his next shot in the big leagues. During those tumultuous years, he was released, fought with management, was traded, retired for a season and a half, and then returned to the game. Unexpectedly, he caught on with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1929 as 33-year-old rookie and three years later led the National League in wins and innings pitched. After six successful years with the Bucs, Meine retired with 66 career wins. - SABR

The Complete Universe pack had a suffix of -hei but the historic database and code shown in the editor is this one, -hen. Shown in Normal view as I imagine most play like that even if I'm often in Zoom In for the facegens. Used the smiling straight-on shot but then sculpted it to be more in line the angled view.

Done by request but the file is a shade over 500kb and too big to post. So, I added it to the MediaFire pack I keep. It's meine-001hen.fg

Thanks for the contemporary picture. Have him confirm his batting side to bRef but at least OOTP has him as a lefty pitcher.

Our man, Scott, pitched for six games with the Expos Rookie League club in 1986. Ten and a third innings, 9.58 ERA, 9.6 BB/9 and 2.6 SO/9.... but still... as an 18-year-old, dude pitched for the Expos... I'm jealous, stats notwithstanding.

Here it is for you, The_Game. The shadows look like a bit of mustache curling down but couldn't be helped. Best I could do.

Hudson is L/L. Can you look at Huff? He's a bit too dark. i like the Cruz FG overall but the lack of the other sideburn bugs me.

Mike Huff

Bette Midler changed his diapers. He pinch ran for Bo Jackson as a member of the Chicago White Sox in the early 1990s. He was ordered to help a minor leaguer in the White Sox organization become a polished outfielder in the winter of 1993-94. The minor leaguer’s name and previous job: Michael Jordan, basketball superstar.

A veteran of seven MLB seasons, Mike Huff, outfielder, finished with a .247/.344/.351 slash line splitting most of his time between the White Sox and Blue Jays in the early 90s.

Redid the facegen as requested.

Love the write ups with the facegens.

Any chance we can get International studs Boi Rodriguez, Julian Yan, Jay Kirkpatrick, Eduardo Jimenez, Donny Leon and Eddie Rios?

Boi Rodríguez

Boi Rodríguez hit over 250 home runs in a minor league career spread out over 16 years and also spent three years playing baseball in Asia. Three times, he led his league in RBI and he also led at least once in home runs. In 1985, Rodríguez drove in 82 runs in 76 games for Indiana State University, tying Jeff King for 18th in NCAA Division I. The next season, he was on the USA national team and hit .330/.357/.521 while splitting third base with Dave Hollins. He led the team in home runs (8), clubbing more than Steve Finley (6) or John Vander Wal (3). Drafted by the Expos in the 4th round, he was traded to the Braves at age 24 along with Otis Nixon. While Nixon went on to contribute to the great Braves teams mid-90s, Boi went to Mexico, then Taiwan, then Mexico then Japan, and then Mexico again. - bRef Bullpen wiki

As requested. Based on one his Expos minor league cards. I'll work in these requests over the next week. Day job busy at the moment and I still owe some good and patient folks a couple hundred facegens on the side...

Eduardo Jimenez

In short, a fantastic HR hitter in the Mexican League, knocking 45 HRs for the 2000 Saraperos de Saltillo. I think this is who you were looking for...

Julian Yan

Originally signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on August 22, 1984, slugging first baseman Julian Yan played in the minor leagues for many seasons and hit 402 home runs in his career (not counting the winter leagues). He won two home run titles and finished second three times. Despite that, he never made the major leagues. His career took him to the USA, Mexico, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea and the Dominican Republic.

He spent 8 years in the Blue Jays system putting up power numbers from age 20 to 28. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. After that, his overseas exploits pickup. Similar story. Lots of power. This time with his MLB window fully closed.

Start a sim in the right year and get some development engine grace, and he's a HOF'er. This is an interesting bunch of guys, diesel.

Anyway, here's a facegen for Julian Yan, as requested.

Jay Kirkpatrick

Jay Kirkpatrick played in the minor leagues and Taiwan in a career that ran from 1991-2001. He hit 144 homers, not counting winter ball.

Kirkpatrick was the Division III All-American catcher/first base and the Los Angeles Dodgers chose him in the 33rd round of the 1991 amateur draft. For a 33rd round pick and a former division III player, he had reached AA at only 24, very good work. He led Bakersfield with 63 RBI and his .993 fielding percentage was best among first basemen in the California League. Jay's stock continued to rise in 1994. He hit .296/.360/.510 with 40 doubles, 18 homers and 75 RBI for San Antonio.

Kirkpatrick's climb stopped in 1995. Let go by Los Angeles, Kirkpatrick signed with Taiwan's Sinon Bulls and did more than impress. In 1998, he hit .387/.516/.732 with 31 homers, 97 walks and 101 RBI in 104 games. He won the first Triple Crown in Taiwanese baseball history, setting records in two of the three categories and tying the record in the other. He also set new Chinese Professional Baseball League records for batting average and RBI. He tied Luis Iglesias and Sam Horn's home run record.

Kirkpatrick faded significantly in 1999, earning him his release less than a year after dominating the Taiwanese baseball world. Returning to the US, Jay joined the Sioux City Explorers where he played until 2001 and became their manager in 2002.

It's improved. They mentioned something about trying to get the coloring aligned so maybe more improvement will come - but yes, it is better at least. That's one of the great challenges - coloring. Esp. as everyone has different monitor settings impacting the colors. I just do the best I can what looks good on my screen. i wonder what it is with the Mac though...

Not used to the Zoomed-out look either. Usually I'm zoomed in!

Thanks for posting the revised Mac facegen rendering for me so I could see how it turned out.

Eddie Rios

Eddie Rios, 1995 Bowman Card:

Skills: Slight in size but generates surprising bat pop... Must resist temptations to over-swing and become more of a contact hitter... Adequate defender with sub-average speed.

Up-Close: As a first-year pro in 1991, logged 188 AB's without drawing a walk...

He went on to hit 189 HRs in 15 professional seasons per bRef but the site concedes that his records are incomplete. His career also spanned the globe. He has played pro ball in the Dominican Republic, the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and Italy.

He should be the last one of the free-swinging international hitters ya listed above for me, diesel. May they swing freely, often and, on occasion, make contact with the ball...
