Expansion teams joining the league will start with a 95 rating points cap for the first year. All expansion teams will select two fighters in each of the 8 original weight classes (HW,LHW,MW,WW,LW,FW,BW & Fly) using the following guidline for drafting their team.

2 fighters rated 9
2 fighters rated 8
2 fighters rated 7
3 fighters rated 6
3 fighters rated 5
2 fighters rated 4
2 fighters rated 3

Do away with the draft pool for the first year draft.
All managers of teams could make a list of 16 fighters (2 fighters in each of
the original 8 weight divisions) that they want using the following guidelines.
Each team must have:
1 fighter rated 10 or 11
1 fighter rated 9
2 fighters rated 8
2 fighters rated 7
3 fighters rated 6
3 fighters rated 5
2 fighters rated 4
2 fighters rated 3
and submit the list to SAL by PM.

I think we would have to have a hard cap based on prime ratings for the first two seasons ... then we can use their current stage ratings. Otherwise everyone would have about 24 points toward the cap at the start. Once fighters start turning prime, then you could start counting their current rating.
I don't see any reason to change the cap from what we had before. A 10 rated fighter so count as 10 against the cap through his Prime with a decrease in Post and End. Fighters at beginning and pre-prime have always taken a hit to their ratings just now we know what the adjusted ratings look like.

[quote=mh2365;2465603]Well I also think there should be at least a little bit of an edge for the teams who were orginally members of the league ... keeping two fighters would accomplish that.

I'm not thinking in terms of an edge, but rather some continuity with a few familiar faces. There are, for example, a couple of guys on the Unstable that produced for me from the get-go, as an expansion team that wasn't all that easy. I'm not even thinking about the stud type of guys like Archie Moore. The ininital draft allowed for one 10 or 11 and had a little wiggle room the number of mid ranged guys. I'd be fine with that. As an expansion franchise I was always a bit miffed I could start with a 10 rated guy. Would like a chance to start the new league with a 10 or an 11 on my roster.

One option, if we want to have some continuity might be a comprimise
between removing everyone currently in the league from to maybe submitting a list of 4 to 6 guys to Scott that are currently on our roster
that could be eligible for the draft with the "right" to break a draft selection tie on just two of them. That way present owners would be assured of having a couple of their old favorites around. They could possibly try to draft more than two of these guys but only a couple would be assured. All of the people we declare draft eligble would have to have prime ratings within the opening parameters eg. not higher than 11.

I could definitely agree with this but since 2.5 gives them new ratings we should use them ... only we have to have a basis to start with.

I have to agree with Mike we will need to use 2.5 ratings at some point. I have no problem staying with the hard cap and no problem starting out the UTBA II using Prime overall ratings for cap purposes to get started even though all the fighter ratings will be much lower when I set them all to beginner.
If we don't use the new ratings that 2.5 gives say after one season is complete, it will cause me havoc on my end trying to keep the cap numbers straight. What I can do for any fighter in the draft pool that is beginner or pre-prime is list their Prime rating along with their current 2.5 game rating. That way an owner will have an idea of what to expect as far as overall rating when a fighter ages.

UTBA II update...........

Sign-ups for the league restart (UTBA II) will be taken on this thread.
There are 5 spots left to fill and the 5 remaining previous owners have less than 48 hours to sign up or their spot will be up for grabs.

Once we have a list of owners in place........we'll fine tune & finalize the rules and start a new thread.

The old UTBA rules will be used for starters.

Rule changes on the table so far:

I) Change the current team cap system to work within the new game.
example....a fighters overall rating will change now as he advances through the different career stages.

II) Do away with the minor leagues.

III) Give 3 points for a unanimous dec. win instead of 2.

IV) Adjust (increase) the number of fights it will take a fighter to age.

V) Split the 24 teams into 4 divisions (6 teams each) and do away with the Gold/Silver Conference. Also have 4 wildcard teams in addition to the 4 division winners in the playoffs.

************************************************** *******

The Team limit for the UTBA II will be set at 20 or 24 teams Courtesy of course will be given to any owner from the original UTBA as far as the sign ups go. Original owners will be sent a PM and have one week to respond. If they do not respond within one week, their team spot will be forfeited and given to one of the new members listed below.

Any new member wanting a spot in the UTBA that does not get a spot this time around, will be placed on a waiting list in the order their sign up was received.

List of interested owners for the restart so far......
Ex-owners:
1) mh2365 - Mike
2) Ian Lord - Ian
3) CONN CHRIS - Christopher

There are only 5 spots left to fill to get the league at 24 teams. 5 previous owners (Kalinik, IceTea, Cubedrum, TC Dale & JC Web) have not responded yet and have less than 48 hours to do so or their guaranteed team spot will be up for grabs.

We are at 19 teams right now and have one new member wanting in. If none of the 5 past owners reply by May 5 @ 10 pm CST, I'll give spot number 20 to Brooks and I'd say we can start finalizing any rule changes and how we want to conduct the team draft.

I see no reason why we can't operate the league with 20 teams instead of the 24.

5 divisions of 4 would be the ideal set-up if we go that way.

Actually, I've just been working on some scheduling stuff and four divisions with five teams in each is probably better. The season could be fourteen weeks, with two matchups against each division opponent (a total of 8) and matchups against two of the teams from each of the other three divisions (6). These inter-divisional matchups would rotate each season so you'd play each inter-divisional opponent twice during each five season cycle, like so for example:

season one: play teams 1 & 2
season two: play teams 3 & 4
season three: play teams 5 & 1
season four: play teams 2 & 3
season five: play teams 4 & 5

Not gonna put too much thought into it yet, though, as we might still get more teams.

We have 20 teams as of right now. I'm leaving the door open though for 4 more teams to join if they can sign up before we kick off the UTBA II.

I figured 20 was enough to get started so I posted a few polls for rule changes.

I've posted three polls for possible rule changes in the Inside the Ropes thread.

We have 20 teams right now for the UTBA II (17 previous owners and 3 new owners) so I thought we would start hashing out any rules the owners want changed now.

Also, now is the time to decide on how we want to set our initial teams up.
It's been mentioned that previous owners would be allowed to keep 2-4 of their favorites from their UTBA rosters and the rest of their roster would have to be dumped. A twist to this was, Dave mentioned not using any fighter previously rostered in the UTBA (exception....the favorite 2 or 4) in the start up of the UTBA II.

Also mentioned was we would use the fighters Prime overall rating as a starting point towards the 105 point hard cap. When I add fighters to the waiver pool at mid-season, the 2.5 game ratings will start being used from that point on.

Unless I hear from the previous owners that have signed up for the UTBA II...I'll leave your team name, ring girl, home venue and trainers the same as they were in the UTBA.

We are now up to 21 teams. We need to find at least 2 or 3 more owners to make it an even 24.

I'll take one spot if needed.

I wonder if we can get Shane back in the league?

We're going to be going with the name Coventry Hitmen. Trainer will be Enzo Calzaghe and cutman will be Dai Dollings. My guys are going to be ultra-fit if nothing else with those two.
Home ground will still be The Ricoh and our colours will continue to be sky blue.

I'll take one of the remaining 3 team spots. So we need to find at least 2 more owners. Any ideas on who to go after?

We need to discuss the cap a little bit if we are going to use the overall ratings that 2.5 uses as the fighters age. Almost all Prime overall rated 6's and under will be reduced to an overall rating of "0" when I switch the fighters from Prime to beginner. Then most will move to a 3 rating when they hit pre-prime. I just wanted to make sure everybody is aware of how the overall ratings of fighters change as they age.

Do we just need to use their Prime overall rating towards the cap for beginner, pre-prime and Prime stages?

UTBA II Team setup

I'm just throwing this out to get the ball rolling.

The UTBA II will only use the original 8 weight classes. I'll combine all jr. classes with the original.
  • SW & Jr. Fly's will move to Flyweight
  • All Jr. classes will move up one weight class
  • SMW's will be moved to the LHW's
  • CW's will be moved to the HW's

Guidelines for setting up your initial roster for the UTBA II:

All managers of teams shall make a list of 16 fighters (2 fighters in each of
the original 8 weight divisions) that they want using the following guidelines.
Each team must have:
1 fighter rated 10
1 fighter rated 9
2 fighters rated 8
3 fighters rated 7
3 fighters rated 6
3 fighters rated 5
2 fighters rated 4
1 fighter rated 3
and submit the list to SAL by PM.
(This would be a starting cap of 100 and leave 5 points towards the 105 hard cap to play with later on)

All fighters that were on an active roster when the league folded and not retained by an owner for the initial team setup in the UTBA II will not be allowed on any roster for the start of the UTBA II. I will compile a list of all the fighters that were on active rosters and post it here in this thread. Previous owners will still be allowed to claim 3 fighters from their last active roster even though the fighters name will appear on the can't pick from list that I'll post later.

I will introduce 12 fighters in each of the 8 weight classes at the mid-point of season 1 to fill the Draft/Waiver Pool. All of these fighters will be rated between 3 & 8 overall Prime.

Let the cussing and discussing begin on how to get started.

Honestly I think that would be the best way to do it ... although if you are going to count their beginner and pre ratings then I would wait until after Season #2 to implement it.

I think just using their Prime ratings for the cap is the best way to go.

As for other owners how about Btown32. He seems like a pretty good cat from my dealings with him in his dynasty.
