Looks like the Patriots might get the #1 seed. I can't see them losing to either the Jets or Dolphins. Denver needs to win next week. I think that's a toss up.

What I just realized is the Niners could get home field, they will play the entire postseason including the SB w/o having to travel.

I think the Pats benefited from an easy schedule. They will probablty lose early in the playoffs when talent matters.

I feel the same about them and the Bears.

Yes they had an easy schedule. But if you can compete against the Bills, you're a contender. You can't say the Bills have a legit shot at the SB but not the Pats.

I honestly don't know how you could be on the Panther's O and think you were worthy of changing in the locker room after that hideous performance. They should go to the port-a-potties in the parking lot and switch clothes there.

Vegas definitely wants that #1 more than the Giants.

Yeah, but who are they drafting? There's bad, and then there's Vegas bad.

I think the NFC is going to win the SB. I think the Seahawks, Eagles, 49ers, and Rams are all better than the best AFC team. It's like we're back in the mid 80s.

That's how you feel today. Then change your mind tomorrow and back again next week and so forth. This season, inconsistency is the only consistency.

Crazy. So up til now, everyone thought the Carolina @ Tampa game would be for the NFC South.
But if Atlanta wins tonight, that game wouldn't necessarily decide the NFC South. Even if the Panthers lose, if the Falcons then beat the Saints next Sunday, the Panthers will own the tiebreaker between the Bucs, Falcons & Panthers. That would be soooooooooo fitting for this division. Three teams @ 8-9 & the "champion" will have lost 3 of the last 4 (Carolina) or gone 3-11 to finish the year (Tampa). And it will be so disgusting for Panther fans to have to pull for Atlanta, while Tampa must root for Orleans.

With ATL's win tonight, only Carolina can clinch Saturday. If the Falcons win Sunday, doesn't matter what happens Saturday.

If it was just the Panthers and Tampa, Tampa would win the tie breaker if they beat the Panthers. Based on either common games or conference record. But if Atlanta, Carolina, and Tampa all have the same record, Carolina wins on the head to head tie breaker. Even if they lose to Tampa. |

Tampa already holds the tie breaker over Atlanta.
If they win Sat they also hold the tie breaker over Carolina, there by winning the division. If Carolina wins Sat, they'll win the division based on best record. |

Tampa & Atlanta wins, all 3 are tied for 1st @ 8-9. The 1st 3 way tiebreaker is record vs each other. Carolina would be 3-1, Tampa 2-2, Atlanta 1-3.

Thoughts heading into the final week
If you're a conspiracy nut, you would think the NFL would help the Bucs win Saturday so that the NO vs Atl game would get better ratings Sunday. Glad I'm like that........Am I?............
I don't like Kyle Shanahan. But if the Niners win Sunday, he should get Coach of the Year. Maybe even if they lose. The fact they could get home field advantage in the playoffs even in the Super Bowl despite all of their injuries is noteworthy............ I think the NFL should schedule each team to play each divisional opponent the 1st 3 & last 3 weeks of the season. It think it makes the playoff race & seeding more exciting.......... Never seen so many 3rd string QB's over center past Labor Day................ Jerry Jones thinking the Cowboys underachieved is another indication of how bad he is as a GM.......... NFC North's standings have completely flipped from last season...... Speaking of the NFC North, Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell's job this season has to be one of the most underrated in the NFL this year. IDK how this team is 8-8. Few teams have had a worse QB situation that Minny has. JJ was expected to be the starter, got hurt, Wentz filled in & then got hurt. McCarthy came back & was dreadful before he got hurt again. And they can finish out of last place....... Saints could be 2026's surprise team. The NFC South is always winable despite all of its teams allergy to victory. And Orleans should get the last place schedule in the division despite potentially finishing just one game out of 1st place. That is a big advantage....... Andy Reid said he is coming back. To me, Mahomes injury is an opportunity. KC isn't a couple players away from dominating again. & Patrick is said to be iffy to be ready by opening Sunday. As is Minshew. That is going to make it tough to practice next summer (How are you going to find a good vet QB to be a placeholder during this offseason if they know the job will always be Mahomes?) Why not strip it down now, consider 2026 as loss & get the rebuild going early? And is Andy Reid @ an age for a rebuild?......... Is there a way the Panthers can hire Draymond Green? That is Carolina's biggest need, a "bleep"-hole. I posted this after the 1st week. And this week just emphasized what I said back in September. On a crucial 4th down, that Carolina failed to convert, Xavier Leggette lined up offsides anyway. Dave Canales made an excuse for him. But as you have heard from me before, THERE IS NO EXCUSE. Then Jaycee Horn made a critical facemask penalty on 3rd & 21 on a pass play that was going to be 15 yds short of the 1st down. It, obviously, kept the drive going & led to a TD.And he is smiling afterward recalling the play. Maybe I'm just built different, but there is no way I could be smiling knowing I let the team down with that crucial mistake. I would be gutted inside. I would be embarrassed to face my teammates in the locker room. And this dude treats it as if he wore the wrong color shoelaces on his cleats. I have yet to see anyone among the staff or roster that holds this team accountable. There is no sense of urgency up & down that sideline. You can't play football w/out emotion. And you can't win w/o focus & a sense of obligation to your team to handle your job. Mistakes just doesn't seem to be called out. There is no fear if you screw up. They need a "Draymond" to make life uncomfortable. To have those awkward conversations. To get somebody ticked off. To be prepared for 60: of focus on mistake free football.......... And BTW, if anyone on the Panthers was going to make the Pro Bowl, it should have been Derrick Brown, not Jaycee Horn..........
