If you looked up the definition of "A Whale" it would show the team page of Art of War!
Just hopeful they end up somewhere else in Stone. Even though the focus is OL, I hate to lose anywhere.

Arrow Unscheduled Keystone Press Conference

----Breaking News---

The Keystone Kops announced today that they located a "Diamond in the Rough" deep in the rich hills of Ireland.

In a surprising move that caught the Our League by surprise, Burleigh Grimes has been named Keystones first "Franchise Player" of PT22.

As of press time, it was still unclear exactly where the Keystone Top Brass had located Grimes however, there are a few different theories getting alot of attention and the most popular one is that Grimes was working as a sheep herder by day and was moonlighting at night as a ball player playing in the County Cork Irish Whiskey League under an alias name.

To say that Grimes was most eager to make the trip to America and play for his new team, would be an understatement. When asked what he looked forward to most about coming to the states, he said that he couldn't wait to throw his "potatoes" past those American batters!

Of other interest, Keystone secured the contract of their first Negro League Star 84 SP Ray Brown.

Keystone also is also excited to announce that free agents 81 SP Bill Lee and 84 CL Gregg Olson will be joining the trip to America for the start of the 2024 season.

Keystone saved up 50+ total packs for a grand pack opening. The majority of the packs were standard however, there were so many Live cards that Keystone was able to unlock several missions that offered Gold Pack rewards. The Kops also ended up purchasing 4 Historical Packs.

As a whole the results were very disappointing as there was a ton of Live Bronze and Iron players!

Arrow New Look For 2024

For the Rookie Level 2024 campaign, the Keystone Kops will be sporting a very different roster look, as they will have 8 new pitchers and 8 new position players on board to make their OL debut on opening day.

Needless to say, there is much excitement in the air as home season tickets were selling fast.

Will the "Luck of the Irish" help the Keystones, time will tell.

I'm a little late to the party, count me in again this year, might not get on with anyone in but a few hours, but added teams to friends list.

Welcome back. Doubt if I helped since I'm going into iron.

Port Ruppert Post Mortem and a Peek Ahead

Well, I'm up early and the new leagues are forming yet, so I thought I'd look back and look ahead. The Mundys faded badly down the stretch of the crown chase to end up in fourth, just a bit above .500.They really hit the wall with nine September games against Waffletown, who put on quite a bit of muscle toward the end of the campaign.

It PT play the results were fine, as the team made the playoffs to grab some extra PP and won the division series before bowing out against the Nowhere Men. The team did have an odd split, going 56-25, .691 on the road while managing a 44-27, .543 at Glorious Mundy Stadium.

GM Ulysses Fairsmith had made defensive improvement a major focus and it went well, with the team finishing 4th in efficiency and first in range. Rookie shortstop Marty Marion stood out, capturing a gold glove, while also providing solid offense from the ninth spot in the order. It seemed to pay off for the pitching staff, which finished second in nearly all categories, although they had led most of the season, and slipped a little in September. Irv Young led the way with his second straight 20 win season, and winning pitcher of the year for the AC. Max Lanier, Fred Fitzsimmons, and Tommy Greene each won 15, while Carl Hubble chipped in with 13. Ben Tincup debuted with 31 saves, and Rich Garces maintained his solid efforts with 17.

The offense, however, took a tumble as the Mundys slipped to 8th in runs scored and homers, 7th in average and slugging, and 9th in OBP. Brian McCann was a bright spot, winning the silver slugger for catchers. Frank Baker batted .299 with 17 homers and 35 stolen bases, but the overall offensive star was center fielder Dave Fulz, who hit .275 with 18 triples, 17 homers, 88 steals, 102 runs scored, and 76 RBI while leading off.

The only major change for the upcoming season will be the debut of late season free agent signing Ryan Howard to be the left handed side of a platoon at first with hold over Steve Bilko, who hit a disappointing .231 with 24 homers and 77 RBI in full time duty. Other than that, Port Ruppert, the only team to play in OL from the start, will be counting on bounce back efforts on offense.

OL I222 Set Up

Ten teams, as Otsego Lake went to bronze, not remaining in iron. We missed Jackson Wood Ducks again in rookie, and the five bronze teams were split into two different leagues, so no bronze crown yet. Also Iron Maiden got in a little late. Otherwise it seems correct.

A quick perusal indicates that all OL teams should have enough games to qualify.

Tough draw for Coney Island. I think it will be challenge to stay in Iron. Outside of the 4-15 vs. Cary last week the team did OK. While Cary pounded my pitching by putting up double digit runs in many games I cant ignore the 19 blown saves by my bullpen and there was nothing out there I was willing spend on. So returning almost the same team this week doesn't feel like a recipe for success.

At least the weather is getting nicer and the season ticket holders can go on the rides at Lunar park and stop at Nathans.

This is the 2nd week in a row that I had them marked as a friend.

Not sure if PT22 is messing them up or they are not set up correctly for OL.

Art of War is in with the OL STONE132. Boston Red Sox and the Algoma Penguins are in the same division. It might be a long week!

Annandale checking in. Did all the bronze teams make it to the same league? I hope so.

BOTS, what a great pull! Congrats! Annandale has been focusing on its tournament team, and I actually won a gold pack in the historical tourney last night. I believe I got a low gold relief pitcher from that, which seems to be my specialty! I am getting a reasonable number of packs from tournaments but the contents have been lackluster, with the exception of a few live golds and or an occasional live diamond. So I’m getting some income but no high impact cards. And a lot of that has been poured back into the tournament team. I am optimistic that someday my great cards will come.

Hey Quinta, don’t think of this week as an experience and getting slaughtered, think of it as an experience in practicing stone league… Since we’ll be here next week!

The whale, however, can't win an OL crown.

Bronze.200. Paxville only have 9 OL games, although I'm surprised to have that many interleague games.

So, with the teams being split as they are, will there be no bronze crown this week?

After a somewhat disappointing OL season in Iron the Mad Brewers are now in Bronze with very few familiar faces around and a ton of BFFs.

After pulling 40-50 packs of nothing special* the fans demanded some form of offseason improvement plan since we had to face the Route 66 team again. The management's answer was to throw PPs at the issue; if we can't find talent we can buy it. Tommy Bridges started his career in Wheeling and now he can continue it with other ex-Stogies There has been a small bit of concern as Tommy becomes the first flyball pitcher in the rotation and the outfielders from Silly are not noted for their defensive prowess.

* honesty insists that this reporter also mention that Ryan Howard was found in all this scouting and has accepted a position as the new Mad Brewer 1B. Fan favorite Dan McGann has moved to DH for now. A nice find for sure but this report is focused on the ex-Stogie.

Love that idea!

Someone needs to locate and bring out of retirement Captain Ahab, so he can "skipper" a whale boat to hunt down those great "whale of a team" !

Rookie 69

Ten OL teams to duke it out. Only six promoted this season, so we'll see at least four here for a couple seasons.

(I will not be able to post standings most days this week. If someone would like to do that, it would be appreciated. If no one else is able, I'll jump in when I can)

Cary got lucky!

Wow, Southpaws got a huge draw in I222 this week, as most of the OL firepower are together in the AC East (Nowhere Men, Waffletown Syrups, and Crakes), with the other great power (Mundys) in the AC West. In contrast, Southpaws are set up to have another "softpaw" season, with all four of those teams looking better than any of the opponents the Southpaws will face in the NC.
