American League Missouri Valley Won: Missouri State Crowned:

The Missouri State Bears have narrowly captured the American League Missouri Valley.

"You start to get nervous seeing the standings bunched up late in the season," said third baseman Billy Nash. "I'm proud of our guys for coming through."

The pennant chase persisted into the final days of the season, but in the end it was the Bears coming out on top for their 2nd division crown. The club will now seek to capture the franchise's 1st College Wold Series.

Over the Top, Browning Bats .407:

He may be young compared to many NCAA stars, but at the age of 24, Pete Browning has already proven himself as an elite performer.

A .407 batting average on the season has put the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors star into rarefied air.

"He's only going to get better, that's the scary thing," the Hawai'i manager told reporters.

It will be hard to improve on a campaign that saw the center fielder stroke 259 hits, with 60 doubles, 5 triples, 53 home runs, 177 RBIs and 135 runs scored.

"I definitely never expected to hit .407 this year, that's for sure," Browning said.
