Its almost the same with signing 16 year olds, some I can sign, some not.

Second thing is that I've drafted two players in the CHL import draft and both don't want do Canada, I might have just bad luck here but normally that's not realistic at all. Players who get drafted in the import draft are in contact with the team before the draft and only get selected if they have the intention to play overseas. When you look on elite prospects there are a some unused draft picks and >90% of the players who get drafted are playing overseas the next season.
Most of it is due to Birthdates. You likely have some 19s turning 20 who will put you over.

Is FHM good for creating a NEW Fantasy league

Hey, I used to be in an old Hockey League Manager sim league with 24 owners and I'm aiming to create something like that.

I've never played any of the FHM series so I was curious if the game:

1) Will let me create a league that drafts from the existing NHL player pool?
2) Rename teams?
3) Have a variable sized league (from 10-30 teams say)
4) Would allow multiple owners to prep their teams game-by-game.
5) Can you set contract term length/is there a provision for Free Agency?

Basically can you get 16-24 guys together and run your own fantasy-sim league where it's easy for each "owner" to manage their team.

Thanks,

Conor

OK, but is there a specific deadline?

If you want to do that in Fictional Mode, Yes to all - but I'm not sure about 5.

Players who have already completed four years or who are 20 before 12/31 of that year.

Am I blind, or is there nowhere a screen that shows me all current FAs?

I'm on July 1st of my second year and I simply can't see who's available as free agent

Thanks

Team menu, then Free Agent Centre (under transactions) or the league menu, transactions, and the free agent tab.

Yes, you can do all of those things. You'd need to start the game as a custom league with the "use real players" and "use initial draft" on.

Thanks very much, Adam. Does every member of the league need to have the game to be active as coaches and GM's?

As for the contracts -- if we wanted our own system, can we simply turn that option off (so as to not see players forced off of teams - or to be hamstrung by the system's salary-cap if we don't want to use it?)

Do FHM have statsplus like ootp.

I see every OOTP league have statsplus to give GM a nice website with stats standings etc.... I think they upload all csv files and everything is updating on websites stats-standings etc...

Do FHM have this too ???

Thanx for your help.

Thanks Jeff!

A bit more follow-up:

We'd want to play one season for every real-life NHL season. We're not interested in having players in our league until they've reached the NHL in real-life.

Can we do that? (a 25 man roster with, say an additional 10-15 players in the "minors" - but no actual minor leagues)

Does FHM release updated ratings based on the previous season? If so, would it be easy to update our fictional league -- i.e. does the update find where the players are in a custom league and update them?

Can we turn off settings easily -- I know our gang and most of them would want to do the basics -setting up lines, simple strategy, trades, managing the cap and drafting - but scouting and such wouldn't be relevant to us - or hiring trainers etc...

Sorry for the barrage of questions I just want to make sure FHM is the way for us to go to run what would be a pretty simple sim-league.

You can control which players you use and whether or not you have a minor league, etc. (if you don't, the teams just have a reserve list that lets you store excess players.)

It's not really a replay game where we have a new "set of cards" every season representing the past year. There'll be a new game every year with updated ratings for the upcoming season (and those ratings will be updated more through the course of the year), but it won't update the data from leagues created in previous versions; if you wanted to use the new ratings and players every year you'd need to re-create the league annually.

Yes, scouting, coaching, etc. can be delegated to the AI.

It would probably make more sense for one person in the league to get the game and take a closer look at the multiplayer features to see if it'll suit your needs, rather than having everybody jump in at once, just in case there's something in it that's a deal-breaker for the way your league runs.

No, there's no equivalent of that for FHM yet. CSV files with player, team, and league data/stats can be exported, though.

Head Scouts Draft Rankings

I'm playing Canadian Juniors (WHL) and my head scout sends his draft rankings on 1st June prior to the draft. My questions relate to why his rankings are so different from my team scouting?

For example in his current report he has a player ranked 10th who is consensus 3 stars and team scouting only 2 stars. He doesn't have any upside or anything notable about him. Meanwhile my team scouting has at least 30 players rated 3.5 stars or higher.

So should I be blindly following his ranking recommendations, or sticking with the team scouting ratings? It's very confusing, why don't his rankings roughly match the team scouting, he is the head scout after all??

Stick with your own scouting. The list in that email uses numbers that aren't adjusted for your own scouts' work, I think we need to change the wording on that email a bit to make the nature of that list clearer, rather than attributing it to your scout.

Just got the game and when I opened it it is zoomed in a lot. I get a message about my screen not meeting the minimum requirements of 1280*768. I have an Acer Aspire 5 so it should play this game no problem. Anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?

Check your Windows default settings. If you're set (screen resolution) above 100% it can mess with some displays.

Coaches.csv

I am trying to export the Coaches stats. I have tried "World -> Export CSV" and then went to the folder "C:\Users\<my name>\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 6\saved_games\<my game>\import_export\csv" and the are various csv files there, including conferences, divisions, leagues, player_goalies_xxx (9 files), player_master, player_ratings, player_skater_xxx (9 files), schedules, team_data and team_records. But no coaches.csv.

What am I doing wrong?

I searched for an answer and there are many posts on where to find the file (path used above), but nothing I can find on how to create the file. Any help is appreciated.

Staff data isn't exportable right now. I'll add that to the list of potential additions to the csv exports.
