Mac CSV export format encoding not fully compatible with Mac Excel. Special characters mangled.

Seems OK in a text editor.

A weird thing i noticed. I wanted to check on a player to see how he progressed in his career. The player in question is Andrei Vasilevskiy. My game file is about 7 and a half years in and Vasilevskiy has remained with Tampa but has not played a game. And i don't mean just with them i mean he's not played one game for their farm teams either. Seems like he just sits on injured reserve for years on end. TB may have some cap issues but it's weird that they would keep re-signing him to big money deals and never play him. According to his player history his been on IR for the last 4 1/2 years. He still has a 4 ca and his role is stated as starting goalie.

Wow! Same in my game. He finally starts playing again in 2025-26.

popup

On the player popup from messages in the preseason, minor league teams are showing up as NHL in the top of the popup.

I started a game as Tampa Bay and was able to start Vasilevskiy in a preseason game and an AI coach did play him in regular season, once I gave the lineup duties to the AI. Must be something causing the AI for the team to miss him on the playable roster for an AI team. Could Matthias Ohlund's long term injury be wreaking havoc on the AI for Tampa? Vasilevskiy is the backup in Tampa bay this season.

The problem may be him not starting the season with an injury...

Lightning claims Poulin off waivers, release Emery | Tampa Bay Times

Quote:
Tampa Bay claimed goalie Kevin Poulin, 25, off waivers from the Islanders on Sunday and released veteran Ray Emery from his tryout contract. So it looks like Poulin and Kristers Gudlevskis will compete to temporarily replace Andrei Vasilevskiy, who will miss at least the first month of the season after vascular surgery.

Thanks for your insight tarashnat. The fact that this wasn't a one off situation means it should be looked into. How many other players could this have potentially happened to and no one noticed yet. I might mess around with a new game later and change something around and see if it can fix the situation. Maybe start AV not on the IR.

Thing is, he is not listed as having the injury, so the AI has too many goalies to deal with, I believe. It may not handle the three (or more) goalie situation properly.

Power Play Goal Problem

There seems to be a flaw in how power play goals are defined. In the screenshot below, the second goal is classified as a PP goal, but at the time it was scored, each team had one player in the penalty box and so it was actually an even strength goal. Strangely, the first goal scored, which also occurred with one player in the penalty box for each team, was correctly categorized as an even strength goal.

And as a further observation, note that the time of the first goal was 11:36, only two seconds after a penalty was called for the other team. I suppose it's possible to score that quickly given that the face-off would have been in the zone of the team that was scored on.

I see the problem, there's an error in the presets.txt file that controls the starting injuries where Vasilevski, Nate Thompson, and Patrik Berglund's entries aren't formatted correctly, which has done something strange to their status within the game. It'll be fixed in the next update, but in the meantime if you want to correct it before starting a new game, go to the presets.txt file (in a default Windows installation, it's in C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2\quickstart_games\OpeningDay.quick or \Majors.quick, depending on whether you want to start with opening day or current rosters), and remove the extra ",2015" (that segment exactly, no more or less) from the lines for Vasilevski, Thompson, and Berglund, then save the file and start a new game.

Edit: attached a fixed version of presets.txt, it can be used to replace the existing file(s). Note that this won't change anything in a game that's already started, but manually editing the injury out (set it to "none") in commissioner mode should enable the players to play normally again in an existing save.

Hey, I came into the problem of simming to Sept. 6 problem again. The game keeps crashing when I reach that date. The save name is DMHL.

Yup, something's off there with the PP identifier for that goal, we'll have to take a look.

Re the quick goal: Yeah, that's possible within the constraints of the game engine, likely a deflection by Couture off Ward's shot off a faceoff in the offensive zone.

Got the file, we'll have a look at it. Was the game started with the current 2.3.19 version, or before the last update?

Thanks for looking into this. So by downloading this fixed version of presets.txt and replacing it with the current one there shouldn't be this same problem with new games?

Edit: Looks like that fixed the problem. Thanks

another player rating

I'm sure these are minor issues, but every little bit helps.

Jeff, thank you. Quick question: If we edit these manually, when should each of these players be healthy again? Is there a certain date? Or, were they never injured to begin with.

Thank you for clarifying!

Thanks, he was missing some historical configuration data, fixed now. Better to post individual player problems in the data thread, though.
