Id think its the opposite of narcissism as he believes we're leaving for the opposite (to a degree) reason, Im not about to suggest psychological help ([aside] I know its expensive, at least on this side of the pond), but dont take relationships and such on a message board so seriously...I used to be the same way in real life then I moved on to a degree and a few good things happened (not necessarily in that order). Just relax and enjoy the football/soccer/footie/rugby/baseball/NFL/criket?/rugby league/hockey/curling talk.

may I ask why? Not that I disagree or agree specifically. Is it due to the more teams/shorter time group format? longer knockout stage? Less rich teams?

I never thought that a simple reason for me leaving the thread would get so many posts. I didn't want to be an attention seeker, so that's why I said why I was leaving, instead of people wondering where I was.
Maybe I should have left in silence.

Of which a quarter of them are mine. And how many of those have actually contributed to the thread (especially along the lines of the thread title)?

Read the previous post for my reasons for doing it. I didn't want the thread cluttered up with posts wondering where I was.

I'm glad you feel I need psychological help.
I know my true feelings, and they are the ones I said there. I am useless.
And if you knew me face-to-face you wouldn't want to be seen anywhere near me. I've always said nobody likes me, and if you think I'm lying about that, then I can't change your mind.

That was not my aim, and I have no idea where you got that idea from, from what I posted.
Although maybe it shows that I can't get the tone of my posts right, and they read differently to everyone else than what it reads to me. If that is so, I've made the best decision to leave the thread, so I don't upset, offend, or scare off anyone else.

Why leave?
Because as I said before, you will have much more intelligent debate without me here. I only post stuff OT to the thread, or stuff so obscure and weird that nobody is interested about.

The thing you're on about was not self-deprecating. Most people are scared away either by the way I look, or by my odd witticisms.

Once again, if I offended you, I am sorry.

As I said, I thought it would be better if I posted my reasons for disappearing, and apologise for them, rather than going in silence. But maybe I was wrong, maybe I was being too serious about it, and should have kept my mouth shut (or fingers off keyboard if you want ).

Yes it was. But maybe it was too presumptuous and/or condescending, and I'm sorry for that.

As I said, I'm trying to help everyone by leaving the thread, so it's not a two person thing IMO.

Dude...Im sorry for that above post. It was condescending and written in a moment of frustration. While you say no one likes you, I like you. I giuess Im a no one. So maybe you are right.

I hope you dont leave for many reasons. If you do leave may I say that it was a pleasure to have you here. You are one of the most knowledgable footie voices we have.

You could be the Elephant Man but how does that apply to a chatroom? So you are a bit overweight. But so was John Belushi, John Candy and many other people who are loved for their personalities and senses of humor. There arent many Brad Pitts in this world. And you have a great personality when you arent being self-deprecating.

This and other boards are full of people making them. Ive never been bothered with them and many are very funny.

Dude, by saying that you are useless shouldnt that be a red flag that you should talk to someone? Whats the shame? FWIW, Ive had to because I have anxiety issues. Its really helped me. You are a very intelligent guy with quite a bit of talent. Far from useless I would say. And it really bothers me when you say that.

Anyway, Im asking you to stay.

This was what I didn't want to happen, so I posted my reasons for going.
I'm sorry for derailing the thread again.

I said in real life. Much in the same way that you wouldn't like me if you actually met me face-to-face.

As I said before, I have a quarter of the posts in this thread. How many were actually on the topic of the thread title? Not many.
And as I said, if I leave you along with every else will be able to have a better conversation on the topic.

See the above point. My posts are useless in the context of this thread.

Wow

Im watching the last few minutes of the Colo Colo-Gimnasia Copa SudAmerica quarterfinal match from Chile. A Gimnesia (Argentina) player was just hit in the head with something thrown from the stands and had had to be carted off. Looks like the match has been suspended. Too bad. An amazing performance from the Chilean striker Suazo puting away 3 amazing goals.

For those who say UEFA or FIFA are bad, you should switch your eyes to CONMEBOL. At least a couple of games a season in the Libertadores/Sudamericana are abandoned due to crowd trouble - it doesn't happen in their leagues, and yes I know it is passionate when they play foreign teams from rival countries, but that doesn't excuse bad behaviour on this scale.
These are CONMEBOL's tournaments, and it makes it difficult for an outsider to watch when this junk keeps going on (and seemingly being allowed).

I'm guessing Colo Colo will keep their result (I think it was 4-1), and will get fined and a stadium ban. But really the confederation should be looking at themselves - it happens WAY too often IMO.

Agree.

The mstch was almost over anyway and Colo Colo was dominating.

An extreme FM challenge would br to take over the only semi-pro team in FM Argentina; Ben Hur. Their stadium only holds 2,000.

And in Chile they have NBA style playoffs.

I really don't know tbh. I'll take Detroit on the rest they will have had.

Im taking Detroit too because they have the advantage in just about every category. However, it seems the intangibles are pointing the Cardinals way and, as we have seen recently, sometimes that is enough.

Im taking Detroit (or De-tuaahh in French pronunciation) in 5

The main reason is that you have a team that could possibly have finished 4th in their own countries league becoming Champions of Europe when they aren't even champions of their own country, when Liverpool won it they finished 3rd or 4th I think.

The UEFA Cup imo is now tarnished with having group stages and all it is, is to make money it's not for the good of the game just the good of the bank accounts. The fans are voting with their wallets that they also agree that all these group games don't work, look at Newcastle last night, one of the best supported teams in England and they filled about half their ground for a UEFA Cup game.

I know it seem's strange to say being a football fan but imo there is just too much football and with ticket prices going up all the time they are pricing the hardcore out who would go and watch every game but who are now picking and choosing their games, Latics this year have raised their prices by alot compared to last year and it's already shown by them not filling the stadium for the Man Utd game last Saturday, the chairman and the club wont suffer as I think they were stated as making something like £150,000 more from the game on Saturday than they did the same game last season even though last season was a bigger crowd so in the end the bank balance doesn't suffer but the fans who can't afford to go do suffer.

It's only time before football faces a financial meltdown and it's already started as more and more teams struggle to fill their grounds.
