Very true but still fun to peek at and argue about in the pub! What were USA prior to the last World Cup? 7th or thereabouts? They use that silly composite based on results over years' worth of play don't they?

The formulas are beyond me..like the UEFA CL formula for choosing how many teams each country gets.

Im in trouble in the TS Fantasy League with Cech going out.

The one that shows how stupid the system is, is Uruguay at 17. Because the team that beat them in the qualifying playoff, Australia, who then reached the second round at the World Cup before losing to Italy with that debatable penalty, are not even in the top 20.
They are tied 42nd with that well known CONCACAF heavyweight Honduras.

EDIT - the USA were tied-fifth on the old formula before the World Cup.

Hmmm... I guess they could code it like selecting your squad for the Champions League and whatnot. But what if your first team is on squad rotation?

Being an American and only knowing the really famous players, I kinda guessed half my team. Im sure by next spring it will show in the standings.

This is the official rule. Although it is pretty open to interpretation IMO.
