Not only is it rude and abusive, but it attacks a new player who's asking a legitimate on-topic (thus ensuring that he won't come here for answers in the future). IMO, this harms OOTPD more directly than anything I've ever seen in OT or TS. Given that it comes from a poster who's been banned in the past for abusive behavior... well, it's your call, but this is orders of magnitude worse than anything Fitterer ever did.

I'd also like to see the rah-rah post by Malleus supporting the abusiveness addressed, although I don't expect to see it happen."
I sent something shorter, not as well worded, but with the same point.

Very well spoken.

Jestor's one of the reasons I don't bother hanging around this place too much anymore.

I can't blame you. And to see this coming from a longtime OOTP veteran, like yourself is discouraging. I remember reading many of your helpful posts in the past when new members had important questions. When old regulars like yourself are shunning this place because of certain posters that are ruining the experience for others, it is a sad state of affairs.

After seeing Jestor's respone to the outcry against his rude, obnoxious post, I decided to report his post, after all. I can see no apology is coming forthwith, so as Eck pointed out about the miracle of copy and paste, here is what I reported concerning Jestor's "attention-getting" post:

I would like to reiterate what Eckstein said in his complaint about Jestor's post. I agree with him that this type of response to new customers can only drive them away and as we all know word of mouth (or in this case internet) spreads like a wildfire.

I don't think it is helpful for this person to be taking this rude of a stance. Perhaps a little OOTP vacation might make him think twice about attacking someone, in the future.

I suppose, if we would have seen an immediate apology and a repenting of his rude behavior, I wouldn't be bothering you guys with this report of a Bad Post, but instead he seems to be under the impression that his method of breaking the forum's rules is the better course of valor.

I also feel that people should not encourage poor behavior, so I would hope someone addresses the issue of Malleus Dei's ill-conceived "pat on the back" of Jestor's problematic post.

Jestor, you aren't under any obligation to answer questions from anyone, redundant or otherwise. So rather than flipping out and maybe turning a noob off of the community, maybe you should just not post a response? Just an idea.

Various minor sicknesses & ailments and bar fights are the only thing that I have seen from email injuries (those that happen off field). They are usually not serious at all and I have never seen a season ending one.

**PS: If you wanna flip out on Jestor so he will 'get it' as to his Prozacless induced blathering of incoherencies not being welcome - be our guest. Apparently the patient approach will fail to work with him as well.

As for Mal, he was taught n00b hating when he was planting water mines with a team of war-dolphins in the Navy SEALS. I'm afraid those programmed responses are not gonna change.

It is not your responsibility to keep posters in line here. If someone is being disruptive by spamming questions (which this guy wasn't even close to doing so far) then it is up to the moderators to step in and take action. And in the meantime, if you don't feel like answering his questions, you simply don't have to. Your tirade was not only unnecesary, but also even more disruptive than the poster it was aimed at because it has the potential to drive him, a paying customer of the company just like you, away from the board.

You seem to be under the impression that you helped in some way by flipping out on him, but I don't think this is the type of "help" OOTPDev is looking for. You would do well to remember that the primary purpose for this board's existence is to provide a place for customers of the company to get help, which is exactly what the thread starter was attempting to do. Protecting you from, heaven forbid, having to read the same question twice is most likely far lower on the list of priorities.

Just remember these basics:

One thread per question.

If it slides down to page 2 or if 3 or 4 days have gone by and you don't have an answer yet, then bump it with "bump"

Got it?

Good.

Have a nice day.
For a guy who I know can write pretty well, Jestor, this is a pretty mindless (to say nothing of abrasive and completely overreactory) response. I don't know why so many people here think it's their responsibility to monitor the board...you want to monitor the board, apply for a job with OOTPDev. Otherwise, shut up.

Typing expletives all over the place doesn't enhance your point or position. Really, it just makes you come across poorly.

First sign your actions here were in poor taste? MD supported them fully.

This is nothing personal, and I have no desire to drop into flamewar mode. Just an observation. Take it as you will.
