You beat me to it. I have a list of what we will call "likely HOF'ers." These are guys that are almost locks for the HOF, both retired (but not yet eligible) and still active. I'll post draft instructions and this "Likely HOF" list shortly, now that the TWB WS is over.

OK, lets get this draft process rolling. We'll start with Round 1 which will consist solely of HOF'ers. You can PM me a draft list or you can wait for your turn to come up & post your own pick. However, if you are just a few picks away from being up, please PM me just in case because I'll be very busy from 9 AM - 5 PM ET tomorrow and won't be able to update the draft if it lags. But once I'm done with my work, I'll be in a hurry to get Round 1 over.

All current HOF'ers are eligible, plus the following list of likely HOF'ers: Clemens, Bonds, Randy Johnson, Piazza, Ivan Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Palmeiro, Sosa, Griffey, Maddux, Pedro Martinez, Mariano Rivera, Tony Gwynn, Mark McGwire, Cal Ripken, Rickey Henderson. Everyone else who has never yet been eligible for a HOF vote, even if you think they may be HOF'ers someday, will be considered All-Stars (assuming they did play in an all-star game).

Here's the draft list for Round 1. (FYI: this will be a serpintine draft) I will pick for all open teams, but I will take signups at any point during the draft.

1. Providence - tward13
2. Washington - OPEN
3. Baltimore - OPEN
4. New York - metsgeek
5. Cleveland - ifspuds
6. Buffalo - woody5254
7. Louisville - TexasLonghorns
8. Boston - DamnYankees
9. New Haven - MogulChamp
10. Newark - jeheinz72
11. Philadelphia - canadiancreed
12. Richmond - Fallschirmjager

After this round, we will draft 5 rounds of all-star caliber players. Then, we will draft the remaining 19 players. You can bow out of the draft at any point, but please be courteous and let me know if this is the case so I can make speedy picks for you.

When we get to these AS's and then the non-AS's, I would greatly prefer players to have at least 6 full major league seasons under them (or be age 30+ like Ichiro). Otherwise, I am afraid they may not import as well as I would like. I may go down to as few as 4 seasons, but we'll see.

Over the first 13 players drafted, each team must have 1 player at all 8 defensive positions, 4 SP's and 1 RP. Then by the time the entire 25 players are picked, each team must have at least 2 total C's, a total of 14-15 batters and 10-11 pitchers.

You MUST assign a player to his primary position. If he played multiple positions, he must have played around 30% of his games at that secondary position for you to put him at that position for the draft (after the draft, the player can play ANY position he is rated for).

Example, Harmon Killebrew cannot be a 2B, even though he played there during his first few seasons. With over 2000 total games, he only played 11 at 2B. However, he could be a 1B or 3B because here are his games played per position:

1B: 969
3B: 791
LF: 470
2B: 11

Craig Biggio MUST be a 2B. Once the draft is over, you can move him to C or CF. But at the time of the draft, he'd be a 2B because here are his career games played:

2B: 1605
C: 427
CF: 255

Any questions, please let me know.

His Normalized database just translates each player's individual season into modern levels. Each season imports differently.

The Career Normalized database first averages the player's seasons over his career, then normalizes it (i.e. Babe Ruth's 1919 season would import the same as his 1927 season).

If you use the Normalized one, it would obviously affect our choice in seasons. I personally would prefer the Normalized over Career Normalized, because that adds a bit more strategy to it, but either way it's still very cool.
You're right. I have the Career Normalized. I am downloading the Normalized now. Here's what we'll do:

For HOF'ers and AS's, we will import them in their rookie season. If they debuted after age 25 (i.e. Satchel Paige), we will edit them down to age 24 or 25. All other player will come in at whatever age I choose from 26-36 unless you specify a season. Some exceptions will exist, for example Negro Leaguer Luke Easter who debuted in his 30s. Guys like that, who were very good players, will be edited to age 24-25 also so we can get a full career from them.

Hmm, I'm not going to like you picking twice right before me when we're going the other way. I'm sure you've put some thought into these picks.

*wink, wink*

Actually I had Cobb and another guy but somehow fogot Gehrig, my all time favorite historical batter, by the way. What a baffoon I am. The picks won't get any easier either when we get to AS's. The non-AS's may be the best because we can just pick favorite roleplayers or favorite characters or favorite names.

The only thing hard about non-AS will be thinking of decent players who somehow never were an all-star. I'm assuming you'll hold even one selection against them? Even if they were the mandatory mercy selection for a lousy team?

Yep. It's called baseball-reference.com.

Seriously, go to that site and look at the list of Hall of Famers. Find guys from that list that you want on your team.

But you get just one HOFer. Then you have to avoid those guys.

With your first pick you can take any HoF player from the history of the game (if they haven't been selected already) Also eligible for the HoF picks are the guys in Matts earlier post. Current players he considers likely HoFers.

Sure, you can have New Haven. Try to make up a 1st round list of HOF'er and PM it to me.
