My only prediction is for my beloved Texas Rangers. I expect they will finish either 3rd or last in the AL West. Pitching is going to be a fooking atrocity this year.

Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Athletics.
Braves, Marlins, Cardinals, Dodgers.

To comment on a few things here: The Giants did not improve. Look at Alou's home/away splits over the past few seasons. They might have the worst outfield in baseball on defense. There's a good chance Alou won't hit 20 HRs this season. Vizquel is not worth much anymore. Offensively, the Giants are Barry Bonds and not much else. Sure, the Dodgers let Beltre go. But Beltre had one good season and a lot of mediocre ones. It's possible he's hit his prime and will put up 40 HRs for the next few years, but the Dodgers replaced Beltre with Drew, Valentin, and Kent. Their infield defense is vastly improved (which will make giving Derek Lowe all that money look genius).

I'm no Dodgers fan, but if they don't win the West it'll be San Diego winning it.

Thanks to, as some might call them, the Blow Jays, Tampa did just that last year, believe it or no.

Anyone feel like throwing this old dog a bone as to why Anaheim's going to beat out the statheadzz in Oakland so handily?

And anyone who thinks Houston is going to finish .500, let alone make the World Series (??????) -- well, they're certainly looking at things differently than I am.

Let's get some real debate going here. Come on now...

As far as Tampa Bay, I stand corrected. So they did finish fourth.

Anaheim's going to beat out Oakland because Oakland's pitching won't be anywhere near as good as it has been... Anaheim's a better all-around team.

Because the general baseball public is ignorant and takes any opportunity to s*** all over Beane's moves because they're too stubborn to accept his methods, which undoubtedly work better than any other. (Proof of this is that two teams who like the same types of players and are all "statheadzz" in nature were in the World Series last year. The only difference is that those two teams had very high payrolls)

I see no reason why the A's won't win 90 games and finish, at worst 2-3 games out of first. Anaheim made a few really bad signings that will hurt them this season.

Though I disagree on Alou (who even if he hits .280/20 HR is still better than Michael Tucker). How about the improvement to the closer position? Are you saying Armando Benitez isn't better than Matt Herges? Or how about shortstop? Yes Vizquel is old, but I don't think you'd find too many people who would prefer Deivi Cruz or Neifi Perez. I'll call the catching position a wash.

So much centered around Alou, but that wasn't even their best improvement. They blew something like 25 saves last year, I think Benitez blew like 5. That's a 20 game difference, and even if it is only half such a difference that would mean 100 wins.

I'm not going to get into the steroid debate again, but, I'd like to point out, Bonds waited to have his surgery because he was busy recovering from another surgery he had immediately after the end of the season. They stagger them for health reasons.
