Thanks, Halofan, for everything you've done. You can take satisfaction in that your work for 2005 is paying off with consistent post-season play for your beloved Halos. In four sims, they haven't made it to the Series, but they're certainly in post-season play.
If this helps you with the overall league settings, here are the results that I get in the sims for total hits, home runs, ERA, etc. I'm not sure how this matches to real life or exactly how to reset the OOTP era calculator. But the individual stats are looking pretty good for batting average and a little low for home runs. Details will follow in next message. Last edited by rasnell; 02-25-2005 at 01:55 AM. Here are league totals per sim. Halofan, how does this compare to real life and how would we tinker with OOTP league calculation/settings? Or is this close enough to leave alone?
Sim 1: AL .271, 2328 HR, 21638 H, 4497 2B, 549 3B, 6749 BB, 15453 K, 4.57 ERA NL .261, 2496, 23525, 5149, 613, 7953, 18854, 4.25 Sim 2: AL .269, 2297, 21407, 4529, 563, 6903, 15729, 4.60 NL .258, 2378, 23062, 4920, 600, 7860, 18704, 4.18. Sim 3: AL .270, 2302 HR, 21629 H, 4650 2b, 584 3b, 15831 K, 1792 SB, 4.58 ERA and forgot to write down BB and other stats. NL .256, 2388 HR, 22795 H, 4862 2b, 613 3b, 19098 K, 1788 SB, 4.09 ERA. |

Here's one interesting stat from one of the four season sims: Atlanta's Mike Hampton and Hudson each pitched no hitters in one season.
Thinking this was quite rare for a team to have two no-hitters in a year, I did a quick search. I knew that Johnny Vander Meer's double no-hitter for Cincy in 1938 would be one and Nolan Ryan's two no-hitters in 1973 for THE HALOS (Calif Angels) would be another. Turns out, this has happened 12 times in baseball history where a team has had two no hitters in the same season. It has never happened three times. Last edited by rasnell; 02-25-2005 at 01:56 AM. World Series Sim 1: Philadelphia beats Toronto 4-2.
World Series Sim 2: LA Dodgers beat Yankees 4-3 after trailing Series 2-3. World Series Sim 3: Haven't played yet. |

Question about Cincinnati Reds roster:
3B Joe Randa is unassigned free agent in your most recent update. Reds have signed him and he is on the 25-man roster for 2005. SS Royce Clayton is listed by you on Reds roster. I can find nothing involving a transaction with him. |

this is good stuff......i can run 5,000 sims and get all the stats i want, but when i get input like this from others, i treasure that stuff as much as "thank yous".....the N.L. ERA seems lower than it should be.......well.....back to the drawing board
in all my tests i have yet to get my Halos to the Championship Series tho.....is this an omen or something?

I'm the one who downloaded from the same link again because Sosa wasn't on Baltimore and was still on Cubs. The second time I downloaded that problem was fine. But when I search for Randa, he is an unassigned free agent and Royce Clayton is in the minors for the Reds.
I downloaded the newest and latest version that you mentioned at simleaguecentral. Is there a better spot to try? Doublechecking, is this the one: Halofanupdate2, 2-15-05, currently in offseason on simleaguecentral? That's the one I'm playing with the two roster errors. Sorry, long-suffering Cub fans. In 2005 Season Sim #3, the Cubs force Game Seven after trailing 3-1 in games. They are about to end the remarkable 97-year drought, leading 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth when the Texas Rangers score two runs to tie the game. Texas wins with a run in the 10th. Three of the seven games were decided in extra innings. Kerry Wood, 23-6, 3.60 ERA, wins Cy Young. How improbable is it that Texas would even be in post-season play? That is the first of three sims where Texas even shows up. Baseball is getting so close to parity that winning just three or four more games per season sim can put you into the wildcard. The only consistent post-season performers: Dodgers, Yankees, St. Louis, Angels (could that be because the rosters were assembled by someone named Halofan?

Good roster set, but I noticed that a large number of Nationals are missing their 2004 stats. Not scrubs, mind you, full-time players that I know played because I went to a bunch of Expos (RIP) games last year. Wilkerson, Vidro, Nick Johnson, etc. Just not done yet, or are the Nationals getting no love?

duplicate players
For some reason, I have duplicate players. Clemens, Maddux, Glavine, and Henderson. One would be active and the duplicate would be retired.

no this was discussed in another thread, but i dont have the link. the duplicate players wont go away even after deleting them so it will have to be overlooked until i adjust them, IF i can adjust them
As for hte Expos stats, nooooo stats are missing. The career stats are correct, the section that shows the previos years stats and the current years stats are NOT updated as i have no clue how to do it as for Clayton and Randa, i am totally stumped on that because everytime i d/l the file from my site (www.simleaguecentral.com and im sure you can use other sites, but i will push my site of course) and it shows them on their correct teams. hopefully when i put a new file up this will reflect itself in there

Why does the basic stats in the player profile shows different stats when you check in their career stats? Is it a glitch in the roster set or it happens to in OOTP?

He hasn't figured out how to edit the stats in the player profile section, so those should be ignored. The stats in the career stats section should be correct. |

Except of course for guys like Juan Gonzalez and Jeff Kent on my set who had no 2005 stats in their career page as I played 2005 out. Weirdness.

I'm in 2006 now, I'll keep an eye out to see if it happens again (both of them retired after 2005) with other guys or if it was just a year one bug.

Didn't see it throughout 2006, though some guys when looking at their career stats had no teams assigned to them for the 2005 season (I regularly see that with 3rd party rosters).
