1,3, 9, and 11 were my finalists. I eventually went with 3 since it had the best all-around design IMO.

Tough, tough call. I don't know whether to go with #2 for its professional look, or #11 for its creativity and professionalism. All of these are excellent.

Thats a much nicer way of looking at them. Better for comparing and contrasting the different designs. ...it could really turn the tide of future votes, I bet.

Jnshmoo, I'll e-mail that Photoshop file to you later today.
One question though: are you using Photoshop 7? The template file was created with that version, so I'm not sure how it would show up in 6 or earlier version. |

Have only been popping in and out but I really liked this idea. Very solid work done all the way around. I voted for #11. Reminds me of the Diamond Jaxx logo, very cool.
I may have to jump in the fray if this keeps up.

It was quite interesting to see all the different concepts. I ended up choosing #3.
A few random thoughts on some of the entrants: #3 - Very nice concept. Great idea using the circular saw blade as the inner circle element. I wish I had thought of that! #4 - Nice text placement with the drop caps and Portland running underneath. I always end up using plain text placement and forget other ideas, which is why I like seeing it in other logos. #6 - Great concept. A bit more could have been done with the P lettering I think to give it more detail and visual flair, but nonetheless a clever design. #7 - Another great concept. I'm not sure it really works for a logo, but the idea behind the design is very clever. #10 - A completely different approach that plays against expectations. Quite nice. #12 - Another nice layout. Good choice of elements; the top-down view of the cut tree trunk is a clever idea. #13 - Another approach that goes against expectations, again with text placement like that in #4. I like it. |

I like #14. I'm guessing it's Cuss work, just a guess.

Very impressive work. Good job to everyone involved.
Some people should really try hard to get into designing logos for a living. |

Wow, they are all so very nice! Great jobs on all the logos. I wish I have the talent and graph making skills for this kind of stuff. Oh well, I could probably never be able to come up with anything like that anyway.
It's a really tough call. In the end, I guess I just have a personal preference for a more modern design. So, #11 will be my final pick. A small suggestion here. I wonder if all the logo makers can release some kind of logo templates that are without City names. This, we can also use the logos for other cities and not just restricted to Portland. Thanks! Definitely looking forward to the next round! Last edited by Jayzone; 01-19-2005 at 10:19 PM. |

I'm in the minority here but I liked #4 the best. The guy shattering something with his swing appealed to me for some reason.

All are outstanding but I have to give the nod to number 6. Makes me think of a minor league ballcap from the sixties or seventies before all of the cartoon mascots and different colour combinations of today.
