Let me start by saying I've been playing the CM series since the very first one on the Amiga.
The one thing that concerns me is that OOTP will wind up being another CM lookalike. EHM, I felt, was awful. Perhaps if I'd never seen a CM game I wouldn't, but trying to shoehorn a hockey game into an established football management interface really didn't work for me and I hated it. (Having been a fan of the original.) My biggest complaint with SI is their forums. The very fact you have to sign up to just READ the things is the most backward ass decision I've ever seen. There is absolutely no reason or justification in the world for this to be the case. It's almost like the forums are supposed to be some sort of Masonic society. I can understand some people being concerned. I'll reserve judgement until I see screenshots of OOTP. OOTP has a lot more work behind than EHM ever did. Hopefully that'll mean more in the interface department. However, given the way OOTP6 has been treated, various promises that have been made and as yet unfulfilled, combined with what happened with EHM when SI bought it, OOTP6 may well be the last OOTP I buy. |

Someone should consider keeping a list of all the "I'll probably never buy OOTP again" people. My guess is that when OOTP7 does come out and is a smashing success, they will be the first to comment on how they thought it was a brilliant move to join SI.
On one hand, people flame Markus for not putting in these trivial features into OOTP6. On the other hands, they flame Markus for joining SI since it will spell an end to the endless customization options. Of course, the endless customization is already present in OOTP6 but that didn't stop everyone from spitting on it. |

It's a tough situation, that's for sure. Thanks Marc for taking the time to answer a lot of questions for everyone...

I find this thread rather interesting considering the recent history before and after the seperation between OOTP and .400 Studios. It is fascinating to see how the general attitude and content of the post seem to have evolved toward a more gentle note. Perhaps this has to do with a general change in who and what is posted on this site. Nothing of any great consequence here, just reminds me how the wheel turns in this life.

Well Maximus (got it right this time
) I am referring to the wheel of life that just keeps turning. In a sense its kind of a Karma thing. What goes around comes around.

What exactly is your problem with EHM? I'm always curious to read comments such as "combined with what happened with EHM when SI bought it". All I've said along the way in this thread is give SI a chance with this one, I think you'll all be suitably impressed with what we have to offer. PS : The OOTP forums at SI do not require registration to read. |

Marc, as long as the customability and depth of OOTP isnt damged I think that this sim (OOTP7) will be a huge winner.
