What part of this poll is biased? Where's the methodological problem in the question? If you provide me that, maybe I can give you an answer. |

Did you see game 2?? The refs let Minnesota hack and shove the Lakers aell night long. Shaq has guys hanging all over him constantly. The NBA doesn't care who wins but some refs are biased against LA.

What I'm saying is, if someone knows you're a Minnesota fan and you guys are playing LA, do you really expect them to think a comment you'd make FOR your Minnesota team is unbiased? If I posted this exact thing, knowingly that I'm a UNC fan. And I say, "The NCAA wants Duke to win Thread & Poll". Do you really think I'm being unbiased just by the looks of it? |

I think that Shaq is the key to this series. That's clear, as Art99 points out with a statistical comparison. I also don't think it's fair to say that the referees are "biased" against O'Neal and the Lakers given the evidence presented and given that Shaq gets most of those calls.
Shaq is amazing. He knows how to use his body effectively. Still, to say that Minnesota won game 2 because the refs let Wolves players foul Shaq over and over is hardly fair. Any NBA commentator will tell you that Shaq gets away with a lot of things that could be considered charges because he's Shaq...and because it's expected that the defensive player will be the one to commit the foul. I don't think that the referees let that much go in game 2 when it comes to Shaq being fouled -- I think that Ervin Johnson for example did a very good job of staying straight up while Shaq initiated the contact. Shaq initiates contact a lot. |
