So you're saying it's impossible for me to do anything unbiased because I'm a fan of one of the teams? Like I said, it just means I'm interested in what the answer is. That doesn't mean I'm trying to skew the results.

What part of this poll is biased? Where's the methodological problem in the question? If you provide me that, maybe I can give you an answer.

Did you see game 2?? The refs let Minnesota hack and shove the Lakers aell night long. Shaq has guys hanging all over him constantly. The NBA doesn't care who wins but some refs are biased against LA.

drprestwood - poll fine - ignore the trolls .

Stat for game 3 :

Shaq

7-10 shooting 17 boards 3 fouls 22 pts

Wolves centers

1-6 shooting 8 boards 16 fouls 2 pts

Very telling I think.

No, no, no....you totally didn't read what I said clearly.

What I'm saying is, if someone knows you're a Minnesota fan and you guys are playing LA, do you really expect them to think a comment you'd make FOR your Minnesota team is unbiased?

If I posted this exact thing, knowingly that I'm a UNC fan. And I say, "The NCAA wants Duke to win Thread & Poll". Do you really think I'm being unbiased just by the looks of it?

Well, I'd assume everyone to be unbiased till proved wrong. I found that a good way to keep discussions productive.

Stuff like this:

Quote:

serves nothing other than post counts.

This:

Quote:
So you're saying Garnett did absolutely nothing in that game? Didn't deliver any kind of hit?

Say he was reacting, but that doesn't matter. He hit Peeler and that's all that matters.

Hell, if it were KG in Peelers shoes everyone knows the NBA wouldn't suspend KG for 2 games. Stars get treatment, and it looks like you need treatment if you didn't already know that.
is offering some good points.

You need to reverse this. Then it will be correct.

If the argument is made by several major sports media outlets, and the question is whether or not the NCAA wants Duke to win, then I don't think that looks biased. There's nothing loaded in that statement. If the phrase was "The NCAA cheats so Duke always wins" then it's a different story.

I still don't know why that means there's a problem with the thread.

I think that Shaq is the key to this series. That's clear, as Art99 points out with a statistical comparison. I also don't think it's fair to say that the referees are "biased" against O'Neal and the Lakers given the evidence presented and given that Shaq gets most of those calls.

Shaq is amazing. He knows how to use his body effectively. Still, to say that Minnesota won game 2 because the refs let Wolves players foul Shaq over and over is hardly fair. Any NBA commentator will tell you that Shaq gets away with a lot of things that could be considered charges because he's Shaq...and because it's expected that the defensive player will be the one to commit the foul. I don't think that the referees let that much go in game 2 when it comes to Shaq being fouled -- I think that Ervin Johnson for example did a very good job of staying straight up while Shaq initiated the contact. Shaq initiates contact a lot.
