I had this one Japanese player I really liked. I came up with his name and everything when I created him. When he floundered, I boosted his stats. Sadly I went overboard and he became a baseball machine, dominating everything. Ruined the league

If you just let it run, how do you do it? Sim a few days? A week? A month? Entire seasons?
I prefer "god mode" where I just act as commish. Frankly, that's the one thing that has kept me from really getting into other sports management sims - as much as I liked FOF:TCY, TDCB, and even the granddaddy of them all, CM, I always greatly prefer OOTP because I can just sit back and let the game run.

I sim one day at a time, but usually just stop to see if any major injuries or trades have happened, then continue through the end of the week. I stop on Mondays to check transactions and talent bumps.

I also like to write up the results of my solo league.... you can read about them in my Historical Geography League dynasty thread.

Oh, by the way, I'm much more into historical simming than fictional - although fictional can be fun too if you take the time to develop some history.

Of course, it was kind of easy for me with only 10 teams and 100 game seasons. But if you're willing to do it once, you're done!
Kemp, did it create a completely balanced schedule for you? If so could you send me a copy? (DreamTeams@aol.com)

EDIT: Oops! Nix that Kemp, I see you play a 10 team league. Mine is 16 teams.

I like "God Mode" too, though in CM I tend to play using the lower league manager philosophy... Or the "crap manager" philosophy. Been playing since the very first version of the game way back in the early 90's. Only managed to exceed the boards expectations once in all that time

I take the most current MLB roster, wipe it and run a draft, always as manager of a NL team. Sim week to week, interupting for milestones/injuries. then at end of week read all the news, check mail, rosters, who's hot/not, leaderboards, minors reports, player tracker. make roster adjustments if needed then sim next week.
Play all playoff games, late season pennant chase games, and possible milestone games that interest me. Had a guy over .395 avg on my squad last week of a season and played the games trying to get him over .400 and sit him.
Then just let fictional guys filter in for following seasons.

Noooo lol... came so close but i could never get him above .400 Joe Pohl was his fictional name if I recall.. he was the best fictional player in my solo OOTP4 league..

I grew more attached to following his career than any "real" mlb players.

Leading Spurs to the Champions league in 3 years is probably my greatest achievement- that, or making Millwall Premiership champions in the same time frame. What a great game- I skipped 03-04, but I expect to be lured back in when the new FM comes out.

I play only 1 solo league, it's been going ever since I got my first version of OOTP. It's a fictional league that I sim by week. I manage one team but since I got very attached to the league, I preactically know every player in the entire 24 team league. I think simming by week is proably the fastest way to go and yet still gives enough break to be able to associate to the players around the league.

My best is taking Southampton from the First Division to the Premier League. Board expected mid table finish. I finished 7th and qualified for Inter Toto. (Where I got knocked out in round one by a Russian team I'd never heard of. Ho-hum...)

Cuss: How many game years has your league been running?
