Baseball - Keith Hernandez(as a younster, can't stand him now)
Football - Bruce Smith(Bills Days)/Thurman Thomas Basketball - Charles Barkley College Basketball- Sherman Douglas Hockey - Dominik Hasek(Sabres Days) Favorite moment in sports history you witnessed live or on TV - 1.Bills huge comeback over the Oilers. It was great to watch as a Bills fan. Much better then any of the Super Bowls. 2. The triple OT game between the Bulls and the Suns in the NBA finals. 3. SU finally winning the championship this past year. Most heartbreaking moments: 1. Norwood's miss 2. Keith Smart's jumpshot 3. Sherman Douglas' last game at SU vs Illinois in the Elite 8

Apologies if this is over-long...
Baseball - sounds a little odd, I suppose, but I love hard-nosed utility infielders. Other than that, Timmy Wakefield, because its always an adventure. American Football: Andruzzi, Dante Hall...any of the guys who I saw playing for the Claymores at some time in my now long embittered tenure as a fan Ice Hockey: Ray Bourke Football: from a Scottish standpoint, maybe John Collins - Dalglish if I could remember. Best moments in sport (hard, being Scottish): 1 - 2001 - the curse passed on by my mother and father of New England sports allegiance. When I was growing up, all my pals were Raiders, Cowboys, Bears, Bengals or even (uhh...) 49ers fans - I was the only Patriots fan I knew born in this country (still am, in fact). 2001 was my own celebration - and I danced, on my own with a group of disinterested Raiders, Cowboys, Bears, Bengals or even (uhh...) 49ers fans, until it was time to go to work. 2 - Appropriately, for Scottish football, my second best was actually a defeat. When Don Hutchison's header flew proudly past David Seaman and we took the lead against the English, and proceeded to ritually humiliate them 1-0 for the next 80 minutes. We may have lost 2-1 on aggregate, but boy was that a way to kick that old dump Wembley to the ground. 3 - Hell, I didn't even watch most of the game, or particularly like rugby, for that matter . But when Tony Stanger scored that try to give us our first grand slam in donkey's years, beating the 'unbeatable', 'indominatable' English (as the press described them), damn, there was some jumping around done. Worst moments in sport: 1 - 1990, World Cup Finals, 0-0 Brazil-Scotland and we're on our way to the 2nd round, until Jim 'I knew something was wrong with my eyes but was scared to say' Leighton spilled a wobbler from 20 yards into some Samba boy's feet with 10 minutes to go. I cried and cried and cried and cried. My dad couldn't explain to me why what happened was in any way fair, although he tried his best. 2 - 1996, European Championship Finals. England 2-Scotland 0. The ball rolled, I tell you! The ball rolled! 3 - Game 7 this year was pretty bad, and I'd like to put '86 in just because I can, but no....this one comes from Amsterdam this year, when for one minute, a nation allowed itself to believe that it could be great again. Six goals later with no reply, our 1-0 victory over the Dutch in Hampden was made irrelevant. Once it was over, I phoned my father - it still wasn't fair, and there's still nothing that could be said to make it better. |

Baseball: Sandy Koufax, Ted Williams
Football: Joe Montana Basketball: Magic Johnson, Dr. J, or Mr. Jordan, I cant pick just one. Hockey: Not a clue. Auto Racing: The hotties on the auto-parts calenders Moment: The Heidi game. I was there because my then-wife was a Raiderette and could bring a guest. Guests always got ****ty end-zone seats on the third deck, so I always managed to work my way lower if I could. On this day I had snuck down to field level and then, in the frenzy of the 4th quarter, I snuck onto the sidelines after a brief chat with my wife ( Bless her heart, all she cared about was dancing and looking for herself on the newscast honey-shots, and thought touchdowns were homeruns (!), but the perks were great ), and was there when the Raiders won. It was the most thrilling live sports moment I can recall, and I didnt get busted by Security so the moment was complete. A great memory! |

hehehe ![]() I never realized Michael Bossy was such an appreciated player, I thought I was the only one to cherish him. I have never seen him play, being too young, but from what I've read/heard about him, and from actually hearing broadcasting games on TV, the man is great. Too bad people that don't get access to RDS or that do not understand French cannot appreciate him as much anymore .

I had to throw that in, just to rile up a few people. My job is done, obviously.

![]() A great player, a great man, and without a doubt would be the first sports person I would like to have dinner with, dead or alive. And considering my fondness for the sport of baseball, it's quite something to name someone from another sport.
