1) My career was short, but sweet, as I was only a regular for seven years. However, in those seven years my team won 5 World Series and 6 pennants, and I made four All-Star teams. I also scored at least 100 runs in each of my seven seasons as a starter, and established a record relating to runs scored that stood for over 50 years before eventually being broken by Rickey Henderson. I also led the league twice in fielding percentage at my infield position.
2) I had a 16-year career as a catcher, playing for 5 different teams. Mostly a part-time player, I finished up with a .261 batting average and lost the only World Series I appeared in as a member of the Cubs. My career as a manager was even less successful, as in four full seasons my teams never won more than 59 games. As part of an unusual promotion, I was sometimes compelled to make managerial decisions on the basis of the votes of fans at the ballpark. 3) I was a succesful minor leaguer, having made the PCL All-Star team. In the majors, I was a journeyman outfielder, spending my entire 10 year career in the American League and retiring in 1960. I was a member of a Yankees team that won the World Series, but I was traded to a 7th place team during that season. I have a son who shares my last name on the PGA tour, and a grandson who does not share my last name who led Major League Soccer in scoring in his rookie season, and is considered one of the rising stars of US soccer.

1) That has to be one of the 30s Yanks, so its Red Rolfe, as Crosetti and Gehrig played for a few more than 7 years!
They both managed after their playing careers (Cards and Tigers)? Or they both played on the '34 Yanks? - I've no idea who the third guy is. |

HA! Great one Trillo! Rolfe and Taylor were the managers of the Tigers and Browns when Eddie Gaedel made his one and only Major League appearance. Jim Delsing is the answer to number #3 and he was the player who ran for Gaedel after pitcher Bob Cain walked him. Great job! Bravo!

OK, Here's my rather simple attempt at one:
1) This right-handed submariner born before the turn of the century recorded a lifetime 206-167 with an ERA of 2.92, but that won't be his abiding legacy. For five years he was in the top 10 of ERA, and most bizarrely he once led the league in saves and innings pitched! After 1921, his stats may show he learned his lesson, but he was never quite the same pitcher. 2) This character needs little introduction, so I won't give him one. Suffice to say that no-one will remember him for hitting the ball anyway: the 20 ABs he has obtained in twenty seasons see to that! The end of his story is undecided, except for that he won't end up draped in the colours of his three teams: red, white and blue. 3) Had the Mets not decided they needed a guy who would only pitch another 8.1 innings in the majors, then star man number 3 might never have made this list. But this was a time of dreams, week-long wars and men for all seasons, so having been shipped from Shea in the late summer fate came a-calling for this Burlington, Louisiana native. He amassed only 218 games in his big-league career (during which he was traded six times in 8 big-league seasons) and was out of baseball by 30 (not 26), finishing with a 32-40 record and an ERA of 5.43. Is that OK?

2. Wild guess here since I can't really find a clue in there Roger Clemens?

Bang on for the first two! Did I make the Clemens one too obvious? - I just liked the pun...

Oh, I meant by draped in the 'red, white and blue' appearing with the US olympic team. Something about it tickled me.
Anyway, you're nearly there! |

I've read over it, and it looks like I meant that the guy had pitched 8.1 innings was the answer. Rather, the Mets traded for him, getting rid of star man number 3.
Apologies!

Oh, by the red white and blue i thought you meant... Red-Redsox White-Yankees, Blue-Blue Jays.
For number 3... Are we allowed to use baseball-reference? If not I have no idea. If so I still can't find him in all of the Louisiana players.
