Smoltz had a better chance at making a run at Thigpen's eason save record if you consider the Braves will likely get more wins down the stretch than the Dodgers. Still Gagne has a shot since most of the Dodgers wins are close games (3-2, 2-1...) giving Gagne plenty of save opps. The Dodgers never blow anyone away.
