Are you familiar with Marblehead?

If so, you surely know of all the hot soccer moms who spend hours getting ready for the jobs they don't have while deciding whether to drive their X5 and their Cayenne to the Convenience Store next door to pick up a pack of Dentyne Ice.

I know of Marblehead, I've driven through Marblehead, but that's the extent of my knowledge. I saw no such women while driving through.

You "drove through" Marblehead? Where were you going? Atlantis?

There is no reason to drive thorugh other than to find a cliff off which to jump into the ocean ending your meaningless life.

Hey there. I know of at least two people who follow(ed) themselves in my baseball league.

#1) Ryan Moskau - Met Ryan personally during an offseason. He was pitching for the AA Portland Sea Dogs, a Marlins affiliate at the time. Once I knew who he was, I went looking in the file and there he was! (Note: My league originally began using High Heat. We're converting the entire league over to OOTP right now)

Ryan has pitched for my team for 5 seasons, and is a career 53-46 with my team. In real life, he suffered a shoulder surgery issue and I think is still rehabbing.

#2) Brian Rios - Brian's sister Becky wrote to me 4 months ago and asked what this was all about. I believe she indicated her brother would check us out from time to time.

I may have a #3 soon, if he's all that he claims to be! Let's go Hintz! Let's go Hintz!

Just thought I'd share!

It was a very neat experience.

His Maelstrom Owner was talking about promoting him to the show during the live sim last night, otherwise I'm sure someone may trade for him.

Roper update: He finished the 2006 season with his best AAA season yet: .278 with 23 HR and 96 RBI. Will he get promoted next year?

Another Doug Glanville story I've read about in a few magazines is that he was a Strat-O-matic player as a kid. When he was playing CF for the Phillies a few years ago, the Phils stuck Gregg Jeffries in LF for a game and the poor fielding Jeffries had a disastrous day in the field.

So a few Phillie fans with SOM backgrounds began to shout "You're a 5, Jeffries, you're a 5", which was Jeffries' rating in the then current version of SOM and is roughly equivalent to an "E" in OOTP, a terrible rating that didn't even exist for the first 20-25 years of the game.

Jeffries was utterly confused by the razzing, but Glanville knew what it meant and could barely contain his laughter.

That's interesting. I doubt many current major leaguers or even minor leaguers spend enough time online to bump into OOTP, but you never know. Perhaps he will tell others.

Glanville did a rehab with my club in late May/early June, and he dabbled with OOTP for a few mins... even signed a ball for my asst, "Go Strat! Doug Glanville" Great guy, real easy man to talk with, and probably the most brilliant athlete I've ever met. He'd probably play OOTP religiously if he had more time.

Heheh, just noticed this. My mother lives in Nahant, and one time after visiting her I just started going up 1A to see what was farther north, took whatever (114 I think) road goes to 129, and then just took 129 back to 1A and headed south again. That was the extent of my Marblehead experience.
