After the holidays, been in that particular level of hell myself for many years so I understand your choice of words lol... would you give any consideration to the other developmental leagues that are options in the game? Like the Cape Cod league, they have never been done to my knowledge, with only a few exceptions in the new style of uniforms. Those being the Arizona Fall league, The MLB Draft League, the Prospects league and the Northwoods league? You will find a couple teams in the Prospect league have been previously done if you wanted to skip those.

Being a New Englander now living in Florida, I've been killing my homesickness with everything New England, so I haven't considered the other collegiate leagues around the country...but it's not off the table. So many teams, so little time. Side note, making these uniforms certainly helps decompress from the retail madness of the holidays! |

Expansion....What if?
What if the Cape Cod Baseball League expanded?
That's what I'm going to add to this thread, possible expansion cities and towns on the Cape and a few off-Cape that could work and not dilute the charm that is quintessentially Cape Cod. The criteria for expansion is simple. No duplicate towns on the Cape and any off-Cape suggestions have to make sense. Easy to say but hard to define, let's say when you see it you know. The first two teams I'll be presenting are off-Cape and both exemplify the "make sense" idea. Plymouth Pilgrims, now defunct from the New England College Baseball League (NECBL) would make a return. Even though not situated on the Cape, its location at the "shoulder" of the "arm" of the Cape and directly across Cape Cod Bay from Provincetown, makes it a perfect candidate for an expansion team. Martha's Vineyard Sharks, currently in the NECBL, would make a perfect candidate for a move to the more prestigious CCBL. It's almost a no brainer as the Islands (Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) are almost always included in conversations about the Cape. "Summer on the Cape and the Islands" I do have fictional team created in Provincetown called the Long Point Lookouts, based on the lighthouse. I'll have that up soon. I keep going back and forth on the uniform. And..... I have a name but not a good logo for it (if anyone wants to take a crack at it, hint hint) for another off-Cape team called the Carver Cranberry Kings. Known for its cranberry bogs and just south of Plymouth and close enough to the Cape. Aaannddd.... if all you patient readers of this post have any suggestions, please share! |

Some ideas:
Truro Longshoremen: Truro has a long maritime history with fishing and shoreline industries being crucial to its development. This name honors the working traditions of the town while suggesting strength and connection to the sea. Wellfleet Beachcombers: Mayo Beach is one of Wellfleet's most popular beaches, and the name references the town's identity as a coastal community. It connects to the leisure and recreational aspects of Wellfleet that have made it a beloved destination. Sandwich Oaks: Sandwich is known for its ancient oak trees, particularly around the historic Town Hall. These trees symbolize strength, longevity, and deep roots—appropriate qualities for a team representing a town with nearly 400 years of history. West Barnstable Beacons: Barnstable Harbor is a significant maritime feature of the town, along with the Sandy Neck Lighthouse, and this name references both the lighthouse and suggests authority, control, and expertise—qualities that would serve a baseball team well. Eastham Windmillers: The Eastham Windmill, built in 1680, is the oldest windmill on Cape Cod and a town symbol. This historic landmark represents Eastham's colonial heritage and early industry. Mashpee Sachams: "Sachem" is the Wampanoag word for chief or leader. This nickname honors the Native American heritage of the area while conveying leadership and authority appropriate for a team.

Indeed I have 20_range. I use ChatGPT often and it does a good job coming up with names, color schemes, logos and uniform ideas. I like to prompt it to consider many options for towns or cities depending on the level of the league. Market sustainability, location's affinity for baseball or history and other metrics. I also like to have ChatGPT to have multiple considerations for names for teams, again using town history, geographic region, etc.
A few names that stood out. Carver Cranberry Kings Carver Boggers Wellfleet Windjammers (Love this one) Eastham Dunes Sandwich Shorelines Eastham Gales |

Plymouth Pilgrims Away Jersey Update
An update to the away jersey. Fixed the way the button pad seam continued to run down the length of the jersey instead of stopping up high as the 2 button henley should.

(I was being mean and suggesting that Isedelyod had asked copy pasted the ai's suggestions into the thread. That post doesn't really read to me like a person wrote it. I read about the places on wikipedia.) I know this forum and hobby (fake sports logos) is the wrong place to be against using ai, but yeah, it's not for me Last edited by 20_range; 02-28-2025 at 10:12 PM. |
