This, I don't mind.

Being a bad fielder means you're getting bad jumps on the ball, misreading it off the bat, misjudging, etc. And then ended up diving for something that a better field would have caught more routinely.

I remember Kyle Schwarber out in LF for the Cubs.... it seems like he was falling (i don't even call it diving) all of the place every single game out there..... and it was because he misplayed everything.

People have an expectation that coaching and strategy will change the results. Yet at the end they judge the game on how close the output is to historical. So based on the final standard being coming close to historical outputs, can coaching and strategy really have a significant effect?

I've yet to run into the example that you give. I would have lost my ind with that one haha. But I have seen man on 3rd, infield is NOT playing in, standard grounder to 2B or SS and the runner stays at 3rd..... which should never, ever be the case. So to have seen it several times already, yeah that could definitely use adjustment.
The game engine produces hits and outs. It does not produce a "standard grounder" on which a player should score from 3B. Or fly balls deep enough to be a sacrifice, hard outs, sure DP balls, or HRs that bounce on the top of the fence before leaving the park.

The animation is not a source of information. It's entertainment.

Yes. Many spectacular plays for which players get huge credit result from them not being good enough to catch the ball without theatrics.
