It was the second straight appearance by Christy Mathewson to fall far under his norm. Last time at least they managed a win but this time the Phillies thumped the Dodgers, 11-6.

The Phillies beat the Dodgers, 8-3. That is five straight losses for Brooklyn (while Honus Wagner has hit in 16 straight games).

This is not the start of the season anyone was expecting.

Dick Hoblitzell knocked in three to help the Dodgers break their losing streak with a 6-5, 10 inning win over the Giants.

We may have found out why Christy Mathewson hasn't looked right so far this year as he left the game holding his elbow. We don't know the severity of the injury.

WP - Tom Hughes (1-0)
Save - Bert Sincock (1)
LP - Gene Ford (0-1)

Record - 2-5

Oh no.

Christy Mathewson has a torn UCL. It is unclear whether he will be ready for Opening Day 1913.

This is disastrous for the Dodgers.

The rookie Eppa Rixey has been called up from AAA.

Eppa Rixey will never forget his Major League debut, but for all the wrong reasons.

The Giants shut out the Dodgers, 8-0.
