What a sad way to end a great season for Pat. He will need surgery to remove a bone spur in his elbow and can't play baseball for 4-5 months. Luckily it happened at a time where he will miss as little baseball as possible. Hopefully this won't have any long-term effects on Pat's arm.

The Dodgers won the World Series. Jim Thome, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, and Mariano Rivera were inducted to the Hall of Fame.

Chris was released by the Reds on March 13th. Hopefully he can continue his career of bouncing around between rookie league teams.

Adam was released by Baltimore on April 3rd.

The OSA evidently doesn't think too much of Pat's injury. They now say he has 4.5 star potential.

Pat starts the season as the closer for the Mavericks.

Chris has done it again. He signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers on May 29th and will play for their AZL team.

Pat, meanwhile, is off to a rough start for the Mavericks. He's 0-2 with 7 saves and a 6.00 ERA in 18 games, striking out 22. Hopefully he can turn it around.

Pat had a much better month of June, going 1-0 with 9 saves and a 3.75 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 12 games. His WAR for the season is now 0.5, up from 0.00.

Chris has played 2 games for the AZL North Dodgers, going 0-for-2 with a run scored.

Christian was released by the Tigers on July 12th. He didn't play at all for them.

Jamie is almost through his 4th straight year sitting in the bullpen doing nothing for the AZL Reds. I almost wish they'd cut him at this point and give him a chance somewhere else, but the reality is if they did cut him he'd probably be out of baseball forever.

Chris hasn't played since the last update.

Pat has, going 1-1 with 6 saves in 9 games with a 3.00 ERA. He's not getting as many opportunities this year because he's the closer, and the Mavericks aren't as good this year. They sit at 1 game below .500 right now.

The AZL season is done. Chris didn't play at all, and the Dodgers missed the playoffs.

The Reds did make the playoffs. Maybe Jaime will finally make his pro debut? Unlikely.

The end of a rocky season for Pat. For the year he was 2-3 with 26 saves and a 4.78 ERA in 49 games. He struck out 73 and had a 0.4 WAR.

The AZL Reds swept the Athletics and will go to the finals. And surprise! Jaime didn't play.

If nothing else, Jaime is a champion. He did not play in the 4 game sweep of the Giants.

The Dodgers won the World Series. Alex Rodriguez was inducted to the Hall of Fame.

Christian and Adam both retired. I start the search for new prospects.

Pat was called up to the Major League club, most likely just for Spring Training, but extremely exciting nonetheless. They'll use him as a righty specialist, according to manager John Russell.

My next 2 prospects:

20-year-old LF Mark Fischer, 3.5 star potential, 1.2 WAR this past year at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where the competition level is average.
20-year-old CL Jon Murray, 4 star potential, 0.1 WAR this past year at Cal State-Fullerton, where the competition level is great.

Really excited about these next 2 guys. For the past 7 seasons we've only had 1 legit prospect, now all of a sudden we have 3!

Spring training begins today, and Pat Hillger is on the Rangers spring training roster. The OSA now thinks he only has 1 star potential.

I simmed a few days, and Pat got his first outing on March 10th against the Rays, getting 2 guys out on 3 pitches. Good start!

Pat didn't do too great in spring training, going 0-1 with a blown save and a 10.12 ERA in 6 games, allowing 9 runs in 8 IP. He was sent down to start the season with the AA Frisco RoughRiders. For the first time in his career he won't be the closer. He'll be the number 1 setup guy, and will be used in the 8th inning or later, or as the closer when the actual closer, David Burbage, can't pitch. 23-year-old Burbage was drafted in the 3rd round last year and has 4.5 star potential, and 2 stars currently, according to the OSA (while Pat now has 1.5 potential). So it makes sense why longtime Frisco manager Joe Mikulik has him over Pat.

Meanwhile, the Reds decided to try something different with Jamie, sending him to the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League (another rookie league). Maybe he'll get a chance to play in his 5th professional season. They currently have him listed as one of two long relievers on the team.

It's that time of year again, the first-year player draft!

The Brewers made Mark a 13th round selection by taking him with the 392nd overall pick. He was sent to their AZL team, which currently has 85 players on it. He isn't expected to get playing time.

Jon was drafted by the Cubs in the 18th round with the 528th overall pick and sent to their AZL team, where it is expected that first-time manager Corky Miller will use him as the closer.

Pat is off to a good start in AA, going 4-0 with 3 saves and a 1.99 ERA in 19 games while striking out 30, giving him a 0.7 WAR. He's actually been better than Burbage, who has a 4.40 ERA.

Jamie was 20 years old when he was drafted by the Reds. Now he's 25. But he finally made his pro debut yesterday, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings!

Jon Murray made his debut today, striking out 3 batters in 1.1 innings without giving up a run.

Chris Ferrara might get some playing time as a pinch runner, but not much more than that with the AZL North Dodgers.

Jamie has been getting some actual playing time, so much that he strained his forearm in today's game and is out for 1-2 weeks. He's gone 1-0 with a save and a 0.93 ERA in 10 games, striking out 19 batters and racking up a 0.4 WAR.

Jamie returns from his injury today.

Jon has gone 1-1 with a 6.07 ERA in 11 games for the AZL Cubs. Not the best start.

Pat is still having a pretty good season in AA, though not as good as he started. He now has a 3.33 ERA and is 6-2 with 7 saves in 42 games. He has 60 strikeouts and a 1.0 WAR. He was made the team's closer when Burbage was sent down to the high A team after failing to perform in AA.

Mark and Chris haven't played yet this year.

Pat Hillger is a major leaguer! The AA All-Star was called up today as rosters expanded and will be one of the Rangers' more-often used middle relievers under manager John Russell! Pat was 7-2 with 14 saves and a 2.59 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 53 games and a 1.5 WAR for the season in AA. The Rangers are currently 72-56, in second place in the AL West, 6 1/2 games behind the Astros. They are tied with the Tigers for the top wild card spot and are 5 1/2 games ahead of the Orioles.

The AZL season has come to an end.

Jon ended up going 1-1 with 2 saves and a 4.23 ERA in 24 games, striking out 25. His WAR was 0.1. The Cubs missed the playoffs.

Chris, now 25 years old, didn't get any playing time, and the Dodgers finished in dead last.

Mark didn't get to play, but the Brewers did make the playoffs, so maybe he'll get a shot there.

Bigger news: Pat made his MLB debut today! He threw a scoreless 9th inning with a walk and struck out Byron Buxton in a 14-4 win over the Royals.

The Brewers moved on the the AZL finals, but without the help of Mark, who still hasn't played.

Pat has been moved into a setup role. He's currently 0-1 in 4 games but has yet to give up an earned run (the loss came from 3 unearned) and has struck out 4 in 4 innings.

The Pioneer League season is over. Jamie went a respectable 3-0 with a save and a 3.29 ERA in 22 games this season, striking out 39 in 38.1 IP. His WAR was 0.6. Jamie and the Mustangs will be playing in the playoffs, and Jamie will be used as a specialist against righties.
