Is there any change from the public beta version? Should I download this on top of that? Thanks.

As posted about in a prior post this has happened to my top prospects list. Was there a solution for this that I missed?

Is this 830 MB? That seems large for a patch.

My team top prospect page is now populated by players from all teams. I am on the newest version, using macOS Sierra. This was not an issue with update #8.

I cannot reproduce this here yet. Please post in the bugs report forum and provide league files so we can look at this. Thanks!

When people in the league I run tell me commishes in other leagues they are in have patched and told them they must patch and other people say their other commishes aren't patching yet. It can be a logistical nightmare.

I understand patches sometimes can't avoid making changes that require everyone to apply the patch but it is important that we know of that at the time so we can plan out how to apply the patch.

What would make the issue easier for me and probably many others would be the ability to set up multiple versions of OOTP17 on the same machine. This may be doable, we just may need instructions on it. Then we could set up a patched version and move games to it as leagues move to the patch.

edit: and also the issue of Steam. Once the official patch is released anyone using steam is going to be patched even if their commish has not yet applied the patch for whatever reason.
may or may not be helpful but... you get 2 licenses right?

so, that should cover almost all the situations i would think... assuming that the league prefers to stay up-to-date even if some wait longer than others.

1 can be current patch and 1 can be 1 patch behind. they will have to point to different data directores, so you will need 2 copies of all the leagues... then move themm to the proper directory if/when the laggers update.

once i own something, it's mine... i'll only say you do have other alternatives, and in this particular situation i think it would be justified.

I've posted about this before, and I can't believe I'm the only one to have this happen. Teams activate an injured player from the DL, send him to a minor league team for rehab, and release him all in the same day.
don't use age limits in AAA and maybe AA too.

those are really low age limits... try using the *new* service time instead of age as a limit....

be reasonable... if you restrict it too much, all the slower developing or delayed development will never occur. you will not generat as many players for the majors. many will never get the opportunity because the game will will retire them regardless of potential when they are too old for a league they are not good enough to play in.

most of what is below is not thoroughly tested - just using common sense. i don't want to create a situation where they are "of age" and only have 1 season to advance once they get promoted, too. so, 2 things to worry about as they move through your system... always base # of service Years on "worst case scenario" that you want to occur. (maybe you want to increase how many don't make it even though they have the potential - in that case use small values -- nothing is wrong if it's what "you" want in the game.) also, switching from *current settings to new ones will take a bit of time of transition... before observing results, sim out ~10 years first.

only suggestions:

4-5years in R is good for me - i think i actually do 4yrs / 6yrs for Rookie / Short-A, respectively....
6yrs for A

8-9yrs for AA -- you could go a bit lower, but if you cut it more than 2 years (=6 as limit), i'd test it by simming out and watching the overall results on your minors. also, do you want that recently promoted guy with ~6yrs service time to have only ~1 season to work at AA? i strongly suggest a near max or max service time req for AA, if any at all. even none would work.

none for AAA

This is actually one of the solutions I have suggested.

I think it would work but I'm not sure about having 2 different versions of OOTP17 (patched and unpatched) on the same machine. I think it was alluded that it could be done but not sure how. I think it is more than having multiple data directories but I could be wrong.

If anyone could provide instructions for setting up multiple instances of OOTP17 on one machine I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, it's easy to do if one of your versions is on steam. I have two versions installed, an non-modded default for testing on steam and a modded to the hilt version not on steam.

I don't see any reason that you couldn't install two copies of even the regular version though. I've done this with many other games in the past and never had an issue, can't imagine OOTP would be any different but I might be wrong on that, never actually tested it out.

Have you tried installing to two different directories and seeing what happens?

Well duh on my part. I do have the steam key and hadn't even thought of doing it that way. Since Steam auto-updates I can use that as the always updated and the regular install as the slow and steady version. I will give this a shot.

I haven't tried installing two instances of 17 without directions because I didn't want to risk my currently working one.

edit: still would be good to have official directions for running multiple instances of non-steam OOTP for those that don't have steam. And with Steam auto-updating people only on steam are still sort of stuck.

same exact process as installing one in the manual, but you install 2 times to 2 different locations.

just make sure they are not sharing the same Data folder - use custom install options during install process. make sure it's a custom install for the app. i don't know how licensing works in this game. depends on how they've chosen to protect it works. (either way they give 2 licenses right? if more, then as many patches as you want installed for that year.)

** if it has teh same data folder after installing for whatever reason, no worries... load one up - change custom folder paths in game - if it didn't re-install data when you loaded it up, do so in the troubleshooting section of settings. load up the other directory's game and do the same to make sure data is correct and in its own directory. good to go.

re-name one of the destop icons or start menu folder etc that you use to load the game up so that you don't get confused.

can't recall if there is a way to point to custom saved game directory or if it's limited to just \data... so teh rest is assuming it's only \data.... otherwise you can point saved games to same directory for ease.

since you have 2 data folders, you'll also have to sync up files in the data\backup and data\saved games directories - probably a windows function or program that can automate it for you... the rest of the stuff in the data directories needs to remain exclusive of each other in case of differnces in patches. saved games and backups are untouched, so no worries there.

Is there a mirror download? For whatever reason I can never get a download to work from the main link, it always fails at the very end of the download.
