You don't need to buy always the newest version, but I see no need why you should trail so many generations behind. There are databases for past seasons, and the newest version has actually licensed team logos and stuff. Now that OOTP 18 will be out soon, you'll be for sure able to grab 17 on the cheap.

I've done further checking and think 17 will run. No new computer in sight though. Bunches of things calling for my money right now and the money goes to what's truly broken.

I've run a couple games of 7 or 8 season with historical first and development after that. I think that's the right amount of "fog of war" for the game.I certainly don't want to know when a player is coming up on a couple spectacular years or a couple of bad ones.
