I think when they say due what they mean to say is regression towards the mean is likely.

Due is less syllables.

nah, they are just uneducated, lol. it doesn't make them bad people, but they do perpetuate an irrational idea, which i consider deplorable. it makes people dumber.

it's just part of the typical verbage announcers use. it fills space. if you want to be noticeably dumber after a baseball game, watch one where tim mccarver is announcing. what listening to him does to your brain is the equivalent of drinking a pint of liquor.

Just as more anecdotal evidence, I started playing out games in my league for the first time today. I have played 10 games, and here's what I had.

I scored in the first inning once.

Opponent scored in the first inning three times.

That's all I wanted to report...

careful now... we've brow-beaten this poor guy about sample size. if we use a small sample size as evidence it looks a bit odd.
