The exact same thing happens to me! It takes 10 minutes to load up the main menu, but even after it loads it's slow and unresponsive. The game is unplayable right now, and it's getting pretty frustrating. I don't know what the problem is, especially since 15 ran so smoothly.

I downloaded the game on Friday and installed it as I normally would. Then, I generated a Steam key and activated it on Steam, but it still wants me to download and install it in my Steam library. Is there something I can change in an ini file for OOTP to have Steam recognize that I have it installed. When iRacing went to Steam we had the opportunity to do the same thing and we could change a line in an ini file to have Steam recognize the game even though we hadn't downloaded it from Steam itself.

I bought through Steam for the first time, and I have had no issues. It was a flawless load and game plays with no problem.

This would be useful to know, I only play online, so it would be a big difference maker if I was stuck on an older patch to the commissioner etc

I think it's possible to do that for any game, but I'm not sure how to do it.

My game is unplayable on Steam

WHY does this pop up whenever I try to set up a new game? I've uninstalled/Reinstalled OOTP. The REALLY bad thing is that it does not close and locks the game.

Does pressing Shift and tab, as it suggests on the screen, not work?

Exactly when does this happen?
Is it when you are entering values in a field and using the shift button for caps or the tab button to move form one field to another.

Those two keys are specific to the Steam overlay and I have read about problems with them in the past.

I'm guessing it's if you tried to use Shift+Tab to go to the previous field. Pressing it again should remove the overlay, and you would have to not use that shortcut.

You can disable Steam overlay by going to "Steam" in the top left corner, then clicking settings. From there you'll see a tab called "In-Game" and you'll have an option to check enable/disable Steam overlay.

Well, you do not receive it, you have to go retrieve it. See the beginning of this thread.

If this makes it in the next version then that would be great. Now just integrate it with Mlb manager and it would be perfect.

This just happened to me on steam. I couldn't exit it without right clicking to close the game and then it went away. Not sure how it came up since I am on a surface pro without a keyboard. Will watch more closely to recreate it.

Was nicely surprised to see that steam had the update uploaded and ready to go not long after the release of the patch.

This happened to me twice while typing into a text box - entering the GM name and a team name. I dont tab between fields, so I doubt that I did the shift-tab thing. It seemed random. I couldnt get rid of the overlay for a while - dont remember how I did it but the shift-tab method didnt work. Once it was gone, OOTP was locked up for a bit. It eventually freed up without exiting the program, but I couldnt tell what I did to unlock it. This hasnt happened in any of the dozens of other Steam games I own.

Man, thanks so much for this. I've been dealing with the issue Scott described above and it's been driving me nuts. It was occurring for me randomly whenever I was typing in team names. Definitely something to do with hitting the shift key for capital letters. I never use the tab key. Like Scott said, once the overlay appears it's almost impossible to do anything about it. Everything locks up.

Can't wait to get home and follow your instructions. Thanks.

Ugh, I can't get this to work. I uncheck the box for the overlay and it just resets itself. Soon after my game is useless due to me using the Shift key to make capital letter. Insane.,

You guys are doing it all wrong.

Right click on OOTP 16 in your Library. Select "Properties" (bottom choice of the menu). Uncheck "Enable the Steam overlay while in game" box.

Hit close.

Done and done.
