Which would be the main reason I am personally pulling for the devs and the suits to work out a deal just for what we just lost. I am a mainly fictional player and I absolutely hope for MLB to stay in the game to keep sales rising.

More money for Markus, Andreas and the gang means a better game for us all.

I hope it's possible to get a license without having to give up any features. I'm not too confident though.

I personally think a limited license to the teams and nicknames isn't too far-fetched.

Everything seems amicable so far, and Markus is cooperating.

As much as many of us think MLB is out of touch, I think they are realistic in knowing that for a small software house, a full license such as The Show gets would not only not be realistic, but probably wholly unnecessary.

To me it is a big deal

As soon as there is a mod that fixes it, it is no longer a big deal.

I expect that will happen. I'll download the patch then.

I haven't patched yet. When I do, if its not already done, I'll go in and zip up a new quickstart.

The key though is if it can be done without losing any features. MLB will want some control of their product if it's licensed, and that likely means no drug suspensions, at the very least. Now, Markus has said that he doesn't want a license if MLB make unreasonable demands, which is good, but if that happens then MLB will then start keeping a VERY close eye on the game.

MLB has had their eyes on the game for at least a few years now, though...

You and I are absolutely on the same page.

The biggest thing is, in all my years of using all kinds of software:

There is no developer I've ever trusted more to make the correct decision for his brand.

Ok to derail for a bit

OOTP is one thing

But to try and charge as much as they do for Radio broadcasts...RADIO BROADCASTS is ludicrous...and it's a pain in the butt even when you purchase it.

I have not given a cent to MLB in a decade

For me, this is a WAY bigger deal than the game shipping without 3D stadiums. I'm going to have to stick with OOTP14. There is no way I have time to manually change all the team names and logos for the entire MLB and MiLB.

I'm sorry to be 'that guy,' but I am seriously regretting buying 15 at this point. I know Markus and co. had no control over MLB's actions, but the bottom line is, I can't play 15 the way I want to play OOTP. It's a serious bummer.
Couldn't you just create your league in v14 and then, before advancing even one day, import it into v15?

I haven't rolled over to the new patch yet. I'll just start up a new MLB game and save it as a Quickstart. Then I'll post that in the mods forum and link it in the patch thread. Boom, problem solved. Off to do that now.

This is irksome, yes, but it really shouldn't be such a big deal.

EDIT: Nevermind, no rush now. Endgame's got us covered:

I know one of my quickstarts was reporting back with issues because it was created in a lower patch version. Something to be aware of, I don't know if it happens in all cases... but I guess there is a possibility that a quickstart created in 15.2 wouldn't necessarily function right in 15.3.

I know Endgame clued us all in to the solution, but the only problem with starting a game pre-patch, saving it as a quickstart, then patching, is that it wouldn't include any roster changes made in the patch.

Which would also be a disadvantage to the one post earlier who said that starting in OOTP 14 and importing to 15 would be a workaround, as you'd have OOTP 14 rosters.

Do it anyway, please. There is no telling what is going to happen. Backup plans are good.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Exactly. The only real workaround (when we actually needed one) was to patch, change the nicknames, then save the quickstart. And then do the same after each subsequent patch.

Right, I wasn't aware there were updated rosters in this patch when I made the post. I'll still do it tonight, it'll just take me a little longer. I have no problem doing a half hour (or less) of busywork to change all the names.

Make sure you try Endgame's suggestion first.

Patching now, so I'm going to try it. I do wonder if it fixes the minor leagues, too. Either way, don't care, it wouldn't take me more than twenty minutes to change all the names.

Yep, thank you very much for doing it. I would have done it as well, so I for one genuinely appreciate your efforts.

If you like I can post it in my Quickstarts thread or on the wiki for you for easy access.
