Wow, did this game turn ugly. Pete Vuckovich got off to another poor start but just when it seemed that the bullpen were shutting things down, Tucker Garland gives up a 3-run homer, John Taylor melts down and when Domingo Nieto comes in with the bases loaded, he gives up a grand slam to Richie Zisk. Matt Robinson got his first homer of the season... but two Blue Jay runners were picked off at first. Final: White Sox 15, Blue Jays 3 WP - Dave Frost (1-0) LP - Pete Vuckovich (0-2) Record - 1-3 Last edited by rpriske; 04-10-2013 at 09:40 AM. |

Kurt Bevacqua just signed with the Giants and since he was a Type A Free Agent, that nets me San Francisco's first round draft pick and a supplemental pick.
Now if only I can convince the owner to give me enough money to take advantage of it. |

Mark Foster refused to get rattled after giving up some runs. He held the White Sox there and let his hitters do what they needed to come from behind and get the 4-3 win. WP - Mark Foster (1-0) LP - Randy Moffitt (0-1) Record - 2-3 |

The Blue Jays have called Dwight Bernard up from AAA, sending rookie John Taylor down.

Toronto's home opener involves a very strongly pitched game my Mike Parrott... and a better one pitched by Doug Rau as the Royals win 2-1. Matt Robinson hit his second homerun for the only run for the Jays. WP - Doug Rau (1-0) Save - Mark Littell (3) LP - Mike Parrott (0-2) Record - 2-4 |

Dale Ryan was activated from the DL. Domingo Nieto was sent down to AAA to make room.

Injuries really cost Toronto today. First matt Robinson left the game and Steve Bailey misplayed a ball in center allowing Kansas City to take a 2-1 lead. Then, in the 10th, tied at 2, Victor Cruz felt something pop as he gave up a gopher ball that would eventually give the Royals the 3-2 win. Jays fans hold their breath to hear the status of these two important players. WP - Mark Littell (1-1) LP - Victor Cruz (0-1) Record - 2-5 |

Good news on Victor Cruz. It is expected he will be unavailable for only a couple of days.
We still need to hear on Robinson. |

Pete Vuckovich's third start was just as disappointing as the first two. A huge 3-run shot by Joe Nolan in the 9th made it close but the Royals still got the 5-4 win. WP - Dennis Leonard (3-0) Save - Andy Hassler (1) LP - Pete Vuckovich (0-3) Record - 2-6 |

The Blue Jays dropped to last in the weekly power rankings.
Players of the Week: Jim Norris, Cleveland & Bob Horner, Atlanta On, and Matt Peters fo Stratford won PotW for his league! Matt Robinson's strained oblique is going to put him on the shelf for 3 weeks. He is going in the D.L. Lloyd Robinson is called up to take his place on the roster. |

Mark Foster pitched a nice game but Tucker Garland couldn't hold his inherited runners. White Sox won 4-3 WP - Steve Rogers (2-0) Save - Dick Drago (3) LP - Tucker Garland (0-1) Record - 2-7 |

The Blue Jays won their first game at home of the season, downing the White Sox 2-0. It took a committee to shut out Chicago as Jim Clancy turned his ankle in the second and had to leave the game, but Dwight Bernard, Dennis DeBarr and Victor Cruz filled in admirably. WP - Dwight Bernard (1-0) Save - Victor Cruz (2) LP - Ken Kravec (1-1) Record - 3-7 |

The Blue Jays were just outplayed today. Parrott wasn't sharp and neither were the Jay hitters. Chicago won 5-2. WP - Dave Frost (2-0) Save - Dick Drago (4) LP - Mike Parrott (0-3) Record - 3-8 |

The Blue Jays were shut out 7-0 by the Tigers. Pete Vuckovich is a serious issue. 4 starts and he is just not placing his pitches. How long can Toronto go with him? Blue Jay pitchers walked 12 Tigers today. WP - Roger Erickson (1-2) LP - Pete Vuckovich (0-4) Record - 3-9 |

Solid pitching by Mark Foster and timely hitting led the Jays to a 6-4 win over the Tigers. Skip McBeath went 3 for 5 with his first major league homer. Oscar Gamble got his second of the season. WP - Mark Foster (2-0) Save - Victor Cruz (3) LP - Jack Morris (1-3) Record - 4-9 |

Mark Clear was called up from AAA. Rick Baldwin was sent down.
This was about Clear more than Baldwin. His performance demanded it. Hartsfield is immediately dropping Clear in as closer. Last edited by rpriske; 04-11-2013 at 11:25 AM. |

This was a crazy one and nobody can say the Blue Jay bats weren't in the game as the Tigers won 8-7. Ed Whitson continued the starter's problem as his 8 walks set a club record. Steve Bailey hit his first major league homerun. WP - Mark Fidrych (1-0) Save - Buddy Schultz (4) LP - Tucker Garland (0-2) Record - 4-10 |

Dan Meyer got player of the week for his AAA league.
I think he will be up to Toronto before too long. The Blue Jays are still last in the weekly power rankings. Players of the week: Chet Lemon, White Sox & Mike Tyson, Cubs. No, not THAT Mike Tyson. |

Blame this loss on the Blue Jay defense. It is hard to win a game when you make 4 errors. Rangers win 6-4. WP - Mike Paxton (2-2) Save - Ron Reed (4) LP - Mike Parrott (0-4) Record - 4-11 |
