Pulling for the Green Sox to improve quickly - with the Newcomers of the Year in 1871 and '72, and then our buddy Lockwood there hit .354.
Overall, competitive balance looks good - 3 champions in 3 years is good going. Assuming you get far enough, will you add in everything that MLB added in, like a second league in 1901, expansion, the DH, and free agency? |

Quick reply before I post a review of the season and an article from the Barrow's on the Green Sox, later today.
First, thank you for your interest, I appreciate it. Second, I've already reached 1902 (dynasty time) with of course quite a few changes happening along the way. |

A team-by-team review as advertised.
I will then post an in depth look at the Green Sox and that'll be all for 1873 unless some of you guys are eager to learn more.

In 1924, Ackermann & Lewis Publishers released the first edition of the 'Encyclopedia of Baseball'. The first edition had 311 references covering players, managers, rules and the baseball world in general.
This is the page devoted to 'The Baseball Almanach' are main source to follow the 1874 season. ![]() The 1874 season starts next. |

Actually it's not a manager, it's the owner of the Louisville Scouts, Col. William Peck.

Time for a look at the mid-season rankings. The Base Ball Monthly has got it right.

Final update for the 1874 season.
As usual, if there's an interest for something I have not covered, feel free to ask. I might have the resource needed to answer your request favorably ![]() ![]()
