So Barton is back up and the A's have designated Brandon Allen for assignment.

This disappoints me, and I'm surprised the A's chose to get rid of Allen over Ka'aihue. But, Allen had a poor spring and hasn't shown much in the limited time he's played in the majors. But that power... Barton can't do that.

I can get over this quickly if the Barton of 2010 returns though.

I'm with you guys on Allen, but the guy seems like he has a humongous hole in his swing. He almost makes Cespedes look like Daric Barton c.2010.

I've heard the '4A guy' label thrown around, but I don't know about that yet. Ka'aihue has had the same label thrown around before so that doesn't seem like enough of a reason alone and looking terrible against Felix Hernandez isn't really good enough either.

How was the guy out of options already, anyway?

Looks like he first came up in '09 - Brandon Allen Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

He's had quite a few chances to figure it out in the majors.

Somehow I think that Allen will end up being Carlos Pena. Hopefully we can somehow retain him in our organization when that happens.

How about that laser from Reddick to nail the runner at third? That was just wow.

Nice to see the defense show up. Milone pitched well but definitely had help.

Yea, Donaldson took a hit on that play. He took another one later when attempting to catch a foul ball, sliding into the tarp. He's definitely a catcher playing third.

Could be. But I'd rather compare him to what Kila & Barton do for their careers. Apparently, the A's think him the worst of the three. My gut tells me he's not, but I'm hoping my gut is wrong.

He looked really bad last September after that first week on fire.

I'm thinking it was after the other teams put a book together on him he slumped and I'm not sure if he was ever given the full opportunity to make his adjustments as a major leaguer.

The game last night was miserable. It was cold, raining, and there were literally 3 people in the stands. A foul ball was hit in the upper deck, and it looked like nobody came running over to claim it.

And 1 freaking hit. 1.

I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch it. I watched it this morning instead and yeah, it was sad. Much easier to take on a full night's sleep though.

Nice to see the A's come back to win down by a run in extras. Of course they scored two runs without recording a hit to do it. That was a very A's win.

Yea, incredible. I was expecting a walk off walk, but they mixed it up with a walk off HBP.

So the A's are going to have to send someone down to make room for the 5th starter on Tuesday. There's talk that they'll DFA Kila, but I don't know why they'd do that when he's one of the few who has actually been hitting. I'd like to see them send Donaldson down (he's hitting .120) and let Eric Sogard play third every day. I think he's earned that - and Donaldson has not earned the right to keep the job.

Agreed. And if they do DFA Kila, Sogard should still be our starting 3B

I agree Donaldson hasn't shown me enough to be in the majors. The only problem about sending him down is that we really won't have a backup infielder who can play on the left side and up the middle.

My guess is that it's Kila or one of the OFers that has options. Cowgill?

when are you guys gonna get a new ballpark and get out of that dump called O.co?

I went there to watch a game between the Giants and the A's a few years ago..what a HORRIBLE place for baseball! Now...if u guys can get Cisco Field finally built, that is a stadium worthy of a great team like the A's.

Oh for the record, there is only one baseball park worse than yours. Tropicana Field. CATWALKS! You have got to be kidding!

Ask Bud Selig. He's the one holding up the process. If he said yes, there would be shovels in the ground.

I haven't seen the park, but if it's worse than the O then I pity the fools in Tampa.
