I had absolutely no interest in a historical game, but I tried it and loved it. I had absolutely no interest in an MLB game, but I tried it and stayed with it for a while. Just try new things.

Sorry to hear the frustrations many of you guys are going through. In the online league I am in, we make it a point not to convert until the last patch is out. Sucks to have to be patient and wait for it, but I guarantee you that it will be fixed. I mean the game has been out less than two months and we have had 3 patches already. To be innovative, you will go through rough patches creating new ideas and the ootp team is listening. You can't say that about many other software companies. Keep your heads up and stay constructive and we will get past this.

And by the way, I play the game with scouting as well, and I notice no real problems. But hey, maybe I'm just lucky. |

This keeps getting missed in the explanations of how teams patiently wait to convert. Either that or we get some totally useless suggesstion to play another way. There are 30 OOTP12 customers waiting to play a league for nearly 2 months now. The commish has been in contact with OOTP and others (like Fidel) to determine the problem and get it resolved. It's a credit to him that just about everyone is waiting. Still there is frustration and some of us are posting here. |

It was towards this close minded person who just cant seem to understand that "I should be very happy with the game". If it doesnt work the way it was intended, well, play it another way and be happy.
Scouting is broken for online leagues, are you playing solo? If so, thats why you are not seeing the problem, no luck needed. |

Complaints can be both ok AND constructive, but too many of them cross the line into insults bred of frustration. During our league's transition discussions, we always kept in mind our goal was to play the game, not destroy our love for it. Maybe being a commish for 10 years and 64yo gives me a few more years of disappointments in life to realize that "fun" is what you make of it, not what others give you (even if it cost 40 bucks). |

Even if it did work, I would have to import each team then correct each teams scouting budget, all 30 of them, then sim. That is a pretty big work around. I agree that too many complaints can become disturbing, I also take offense to the fact that I have been told by atleast 10 posters on here that it was my fault, "I should not have bought the game yet, I should have known better." I was told by atleast 2 posters that: Quote:

I am not criticizing anyone on which choice they make, I'm just pointing out there are options if your willing to compromise your expectations of perfection to play the game. It gets tiring to hear "it doesn't work" when it "can" if you really want to play baseball. Last edited by Henry; 08-09-2011 at 01:12 PM. |

on top of the 15% issue now totally random a few managers are experiencing random players on their teams that were not there before the last sim.

I keep reading in this thread that scouting is broken. But I don't really see WHAT is broken about it?
I see its financial, so what is the actual issue? I haven't tried the feature yet but I am curious. Also is this for all new OOTP12 leagues or just converted ones? Thanks! |

The problem occurs with the import of the team file. It throws the scouting budget out of whack in a big way.

Thanks for the reply Alan. Seems to be a lot of hollering and not a lot of detail
So just to be clear "It is a bug with the scouting budget for OOTP12 online leagues only (doesn't matter if it is an upgraded online league or one that started in OOTP12)." --- You're talking the actual scouting budget (where you set percentages per where you spend) "The problem occurs with the import of the team file. It throws the scouting budget out of whack in a big way." --- Meaning the dollar figures change everytime I may import a GM's FTP'd export? Also, I assume by this thread that the problem has yet to be identified correct? And once it is, do you think there will be a patch specific for it, and not a wait to patch other items? Last question I swear: If lets say your scout budget is 1,000,000 and then I import and edits happen. I as commish can technically keep changing it back to what it WAS until the fix happens, right? |

To answer your other questions, the problem has already been identified and passed on to the developers, they have already discovered the error in the code and will be issuing a patch for it (as well as other items). I can't speculate on when that patch is going to come out since I am obviously not privy to that information though. For your last question, you can manually edit it back, but you'll have to do it for every team in your league during every import , so it is not necessarily a trivial amount of work but it is something that some league commissioners are doing until there is a fix.
