I don't have any way to recreate it right now, but what did for me was disabling internet in windows. If that doesn't work i really don't have a clue.

same issue here too. i'm not trying unplug connection steps above. the game should be able to activate after one try. you would think. considering we pre-ordered so i could play the game right away.

I have also unplugged my connections.I keep getting the same message.

activation error
the game could not be activated
please try again in a few minutes
windows 7 desktop
high speed connection
using upper case letters with copy and paste with ootp12 not being zero in the first line
I have been using 26 letters in the copy and paste with the dashes.
I also have my firewall turned off.
I have restarted me cp after the download
I do realize the server is working overtime.I just want too make sure i have the right information on my activation key.

I would suggest for the next version it would be better too do the release in a couple of phases.This would not put the server on over load like it has now.I would be willing too wait another day if i had too for a pre order.

It did, for many people earlier. You're probably unlucky in that you're trying it in the 'peak' period. Keep trying, or try again later at night or first thing in the morning.

If I bought the PC/MAC version of the game does my license not work if I try to install on a linux machine?

I didn't realize there was a linux version when purchasing and I would actually prefer to use that version if possible.

I don't feel like I should have to wait till the morning, I bought the game just like everybody else and should be able to play it today...no offense.... I've been trying for over 3 hrs now, its kinda of bull crap, never had probelms before with other OOTP games

yup. i didn't do anything different than my first attempt.
just keep trying guys. it took me about 15 attempts before i was successful.

I had this same problem. I copy and pasted it from the email and it didn't work. Then I copied the code into notepad and then copied the serial number from the notepad into the activation line and it worked.

Got lucky and activated on first try. Got into game and looked around for a while. When I hit the Available Coaches menu, the game crashed. Upon re-starting, the license was not activated anymore, no options to start game etc... This was the same issue KGrob reported earlier.

I tried his suggestion of re-installing the game, and it did show as activated again, as his did. But as soon as I closed the game and restarted, it went back to not being activated again(he didn't mention if he got this far or not).

So I'm stuck. Ideas?
