If so, then I can honestly say that I am not very happy with this.

What's your opinion? Perhaps someone has an answer as to what is going on.
I don't see where you think OOTP 12 is lagging behind, it is only March 30th. This game is never ready before the season starts. I think the reason people are thinking the game is late (which it isn't) is because last year they had the road to release feature that kept us informed. I remember one year the game was released early because of all the crying going on and it was virtually unplayable for a large portion of the people until two or three patchs. Sit back relax and play OOTP 11 and let Markus and his half a dozen workers get the job done. I don't know maybe because i'm in my 60's i have learned not to fret over things that don't really mean that much when all is said and done.
I'm just saying....

I do not wish you any luck. I wish you instead diligence, faith and understanding.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

If this iootp is not taking any of Markus valuable programing time away from ootp12 then I'm happy with it. I think all of his time should be centered on ootp12 and it's release at the moment.
I think that Markus should be enclosed in a 8' x 8' glass cube with a small spartan desk, materials for programming, a hardy diet of Slim Jims, 5-Hour Energy drinks, and coffee, and have a webcam trained on him at all times. We can expect no less for our $30.

When did 11 come out? April 14th? Even at it's latest 12 should be within 2-3 weeks of that.

OOTP 11 release date was more an exception to the rule than the rule. I don't see how the date of release of the last version can be pertinent in this case (as I won't see why the june release of OOTP 10 would be).

You just have to look at it this way, a few hours after it comes out we'll all forget how long it took because we'll be immersed in that new car smell of it all.

No way man, that's just not going to happen. If beta progresses as it has the past 3 years, then you're looking at a month month and a half minimum from whenever beta begins. I say June at the earliest. Personally I'm not too concerned over the release date, because I know whenever it comes out it's gonna be awesome!

Part of the problem, IMO, is that Markus never has all the features coded when beta testing begins. So, he cannot devote 100% of his time to bug fixes. He has to spend too much time coding the rest of the new features. The testing phase is too protracted, as a result.

I find that people who are used to playing sports games (and sports in general) are way too caught up in release dates. This is not only the case with OOTP but many many others like APBA, Strat, DM etc)

As kids we remember the baseball cards came out every January or February, Baseball Season starts April, Football September, Christmas on 12/25.

For games, companies like EASports/2ksports usually have the same release date every year (within a few days) and this is what people expected. This originated when companies actually competed to get their games on the market 1st. Now a couple of decades later platform games are stuck with games that have 1 or 2 features and updated rosters.

We expect the same from OOTP since it's a sport's game.

Look outside of Sports games and when developers release sequels. There is no frequency and releases are often pushed back months or even years (Duke Nukem?).

We shouldn't expect OOTP developments to operate like EASports or 2kSports. It's a totally different type of company.

On another note...
Each year it's the same thing on these boards. Things heat up around the release date, calm down for a little bit, heat up again as people realize their wants are not in the game or bugs aren't fixed, a patch comes out and people calm down, then when the final patch is addressed things heat up again when stuff isn't included.

If you've been here long enough you come to expect it and not worry about it too much.

The game will come out, there will be some bugs and missing features but in the end we will all enjoy playing it.

In the end if people didn't enjoy the game so much they wouldn't be so anxious about it.

Exactly which is why the release date should be set in stone, Duke Nukem has 3? versions. GTA 4 versions Madden and OOTP are on 12. 12 consecutive yrs. Like i have said I dont care personally when the game comes out, I will buy it eventually. But I can see why many people would want it as close to OD as possible. And yes OOTPD isnt EA which is why this game is better then any they have have produced...Too bad EA used the Slogan "If It's In The Game, It's In The Game" because this only applies to OOTP.

"Exactly, which is why the release date should be set in stone"

A set in stone release date is not only not doable, but would cause all sort of problems if its not met. There are entirely too many variables involved.

Things are fine just as they are. People need to chill out, enjoy 11 and once 12 comes out, be happy.

After 9 years of following OOTP, the only thing that is constant is the bickering that occurs as we await the release, lol. Someone here correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember OOTP being released as early as February and as late as June. With what amounts to a one man operation, all Markus can do is the best he can. Hang in there a bit longer - I doubt seriously it will be June again.

I gotta be honest....I've been playing OOTP11 pretty much nonstop since it came out...and I couldn't really care less when 12 comes out..it'll be here when it's here but until then....I'm still playing 11 and I don't feel the need to fret about it.
