While I'm not suggesting that Oregon St. would of miraculously been a world beater had he not gotten injured, losing James Rodgers back in early October was a pretty significant blow to their team.

I think its pretty obvious that Newton has taken money, regardless of whether or not they can currently link him to it.

The problem is that if the investigation isn't finished before the Title Game (and Auburn win it) but then it's later found that Newton did take money, then the title has to be vacated (as opposed to awarded to their opponents (presumably Oregon or TCU)), which doesn't exactly make NCAA Football look great in the media.
