I just want to make it clear that I am not advocating the use of ANY drug, much less performance enhancers. I am a recovering oxycontin addict(as most know on this forum)with 5 years clean so I know first hand just how devastating addiction can be..I lost more than I can ever recover and a piece of me that will never be back. I dont tell anyone to never touch a drug because that would be like an alcoholic telling everyone not to ever have a drink. I just advise anyone to KNOW what you are putting into your body and pay attention to the longterm side affects. As for steroids..definitely anti-steroid. Leave the performance enhancers alone because natural is much better in the long run.

If I remember correctly, I think there were two Mosley lawsuits going on. He was suing BALCO and Victor Conti for defamation of character. Mosley was also being sued by his trainer for the same reason. The suit filed against Mosley by his trainer was the one that got dismissed. The Mosley v. BALCO suit is still active.
I know it probably would have been poor form to speculate on it during the fight, but I was shocked how little was made of Margarito's actions by the HBO fight crew. They mentioned it but did not really discuss the implications of having such a substance in your gloves. To me this really does throw Margarito's previous victories into question, especially the one over Cotto. Mosely fought an amazing fight, and I don't want to take anything away from him, but I'm forced to wonder about the psychological effect of Margarito getting caught cheating immediately before the fight. If he's been doctoring his gloves for a long time, the knowledge that he didn't have that advantage could seriously affect his performance. I thought the best thing Mosley did was to push Margarito around. All the leaning on him and shoving him had to have a negative effect. You could see a bit of the Hopkins influence in that and in how he was always using his head to aggravate Margarito. |

I love how you always seem to see bernard hopkins at ring side screaming and shouting at the big GBP fights, hes a bigger fan than he is a fighter haha.

hi everyone
ive got quite a bit to say about this one. i've pondered and meditated on it for days and have come to sheer disappointment. i haven't taken 'performance enhancing' mosley seriously for years. he hides behind that irritating smile and 'good guy' act but all in all, he doped up in a very dangerous role. this isn't baseball or football, where the plain intent is to make contact with fists to the opponent. there is always that chance of someone getting hurt. so, when someone adds illegal substance to the mix, it says a lot about the individual, imo. and why isn't more being said about the whole reason why this fight was basically and quickly uprooted from vegas. mosley did NOT want to answer any las vegas athletic commission questions regarding balco. just keep smiling shane, and it'll all go away. i'm even more disappointed in margarito. this is a guy who had the reputation as just a tough guy. boxing from an early age, rock solid, straight ahead, most avoided, tijuana tornado, etc. now, we find out that not only does he try to load his gloves, but he may have done it in the past. come on, guys, are you kidding me??? this says the same about the individual - there is already a chance that the other guy can get hurt, but to illegally enhance these chances??? i concur with an earlier post that hbo just kind of mentioned it and then nothing more said. do they think that if they don't talk about it, it will just go away? and these are the same broadcasters that constantly put down mma/ufc every chance they get. this is why, with every passing boxing event, the sport becomes closer and closer to being dead to me. once again, as in an earlier post, maybe i will just stick to our favorite computer sim game, and stop watching this neo-pro wrestling crap. this is an argument for another post but i feel as is boxing is doing EVERYTHING it can to turn fans away and switching to mma. i don't necessarily want to do it, but those ppvs are cheaper and are actually exciting straight through, including undercards. boxing ppv undercards are just garbage. remember when fighters made their name on the undercards of ppv headliners, such as jc chavez, simon brown, felix trinidad, etc? boxing undercards used to have good, competitive championship bouts on them. its not fun when a potentially good fight ends up being a fight between a guy who loves performance enhancers and a guy who loads his gloves like the iron sheik used to load those curled boots. thanks for listening to me vent for awhile. and a final thought - was bernard hopkins actually stroking mosley's back, blowing in his ear and kissing his cheek @ the post fight interview or was he just uncomfortably close to him? they did mention that mosley just left his wife......

Just a question.
If California suspends or revokes Margarito's license Can other states follow suit or will this only be effective in the state of California? |

* Normally, when one of the major states suspend a fighter or a trainer, the other states fallow suite.... similar to the full faith and credit clause of the constitution.
