Hey, I know it's easy . . . it just shouldn't be necessary.

I've been saying OOTPX for over a year now...but I doubt Markus'll be influenced by my nomenclature choice.

Good eye. I think that, since we were talking about OOTP 10, we conflated the game version number and the year.

It seems to me that scouting was given an excellent facelift in version 9 -- what is on the table this time around? My own wish list would include some movement towards a more sophisticated and histrorically flexible financial model (read: an effective environment for the reserve rule), as a step toward re-creating more realistic baseball universes of the past. Deadringer has also reminded us that the way the game handles pitcher remains one of OOTP's weak points. And there has been a lot of talk about the need to provide a better set-up for PbP and news.
It seems to me that Markus takes into consideration each type of gamer (i.e., fictional, historical, on-line, GM, manager, career, season, day-to-day, etc.) when he sets his goals for each new version. We don't get everything we want. But everyone gets something. More or less.

That said, I'll bet Markus already knows what he plans to do with OOTP10. Big features, that is. Or major changes. He'll then sort through the hundreds of feature requests (most of them, IMO, laudable) and select the ones that BOTH have merit AND will not take too much time to code. Like it or not, some feature requests will be rejected simply because -- as Markus has often said -- it would be a PITA to code them. Markus, of course, reserves the right to change his plans. He often sneaks a few extra features into the game (or a patch) at the last minute -- which may not always be a good idea. Still, I give him credit for making the effort.

Based on my experience, then, I guess I'm not sure how much our input really matters. Like I said, I'll bet Markus already has a good idea what we'll see in OOTP10. Personally, I've always been curious to know what occupies Markus' time outside the beta testing phase. As far as I know, he doesn't spend time coding OOTP year-round. Does anyone happen to know?

Surely OOTP Developments is his full-time occupation. Coding on both the newer and older versions of OOTP Baseball every year is probably at least 9-10 solid months' worth of work (I believe that the German work week is about 30-35 hours). Administrative tasks for OOTP Developments, and work on the company's other titles probably occupies at a few weeks of time every year.

He might contract out to do some freelance programming as well.

So I wouldn't guess that he has any excessive leisure time, compared to most of us American full-time workers.

I wouldn't mind this IF it resulted in more problems being fixed pre-release. Like Nihilianth, I'm one of those people who play out their games, and I'm never in a rush to switch over.

I was under the impression that his health was not the best. I assumed that he spent a fair amount of time each year recovering his strength.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Yeah, but this usually leads to this , so I thought I'd keep it simple.
