Suggestion

Fix the waiver wire bug. It has been claimed as fixed but the issue of players being claimed and not going through to the claiming team (when they should have, eg on non-revocable waivers) still exists and has arisen recently in a couple of my online leagues.

Here's the link way back in OOTP8 ... says it is targeted for fix in ootp9, but it hasn't been fixed:

Base fatigue on the players actual playing time.

Reason

Someone like Cal Ripken Jr should not need to be rested as depicted in the current fatigue model. Different players need different amounts of rest. Also some positions might require more rest on average.

Dynamic player personality

Reason
I'm not sure if this is already in the game. If not, I'd like to see a player have a dynamic personality when it comes for qualities such as: leader ability, loyalty, desire for winning team, greed, intelligence, and work ethic.

For example, a young player may not care to play on a winning team but as he gets older his desire for a winning team could increase. Also a young player may be greedy but develop less greed as he gets order while wanting to play for a winning team.

Again I apologize if this is already in the game. I'm still new to OOTP

Suggestion

Prospects and young players should have a comparable Major League Player they compare to. Maybe a projected ceiling that says: "This player could be the next Barry Bonds, with incredible power and plate discipline". Or just something that says: Player Comparison: Ken Griffey Jr.

Reason

It would give a hyped prospect that much more dynamic to see if he can live up to his billing and further make prospects valuable

I'm not saying that this shouldn't be looked at; far from it, I think that a big part of the beta testing this year should be re-doing a lot of the stuff that RonCo did. I just also think that this isn't *necessarily* as large an issue as he made it out to be.
The fatal flaw is using stats. Stats straight from the game will not work for aging purposes unless you adjust them for ballpark (and environment if you're using historical sims where the league totals change over time). There is no flaw with using ratings. (actually, there's a tiny flaw...but it's just that...very tiny).

A report that shows ANY development change in a player. Not just the annual scouting reports.

This might have already been mentioned, and like the other suggestion that I posted today, it's probably a bit late, but:

Suggestion: Pitch calling ratings for catchers.

Reason: Perhaps this is included in catcher defense now in which case this might not be necessary, but with the addition of individual pitches and pitch ratings that will actually have an impact on the game (which is great, by the way), I think that it might be useful to have a rating that shows whether a catcher "calls a good game." This would definitely improve as a catcher ages in most cases. As an even more ambitious idea, and this might be way, way too much of a pain to put in, and if it is I completely understand that, what about if pitchers have "relationship" ratings with individual catchers? For instance, if Pitcher A has worked with Catcher A for 10 years, Catcher A will have a much better idea of what Pitcher A wants to throw in certain situations, which might give Pitcher A a bit of a boost when he's throwing to Catcher A.

Priority: Low to low-medium. It would be nice, but it's probably not critical (especially the second part.)

Option to use age-based projections for potential ratings of young players in historical sims (where there's limited real life data available).

Right now, potential ratings can only be based on real life data that actually exists. However, if you're doing a current sim, you might have a young player who is obviously going to have better seasons as he gets older. If a 20 year old hits .250/.330/.450 in real life, he should have incredibly high potential ratings - not potential ratings that have him peaking at the same level he played at age 20 in real life.

The potential ratings generator should be able to look at the limited real life data that exists for a player, and determine (based on age) what that translates to for a player's peak years then determine the potential ratings based on that translation.

Reason
Better playability of historical sims, more realistic MLB rookies/prospects

Just found this from another GM in one of my leagues - "I don't know if this is the cause of all the waiver and contract issues the game has, but I suspect it is. I was once advised in another league that if I make changes to my team, save, export, then make more changes and save and export, some of the changes made in the 1st export get lost or overwritten in the 2nd export. In other words, if I make a waiver claim, export, then move players around in my minor leagues and export again, the suspicion is the waiver claim is no longer made in the game because the 2nd export didn't have an active waiver claim being made.

So what I started doing a few months back is whenever possible I make every change to my team I can think of to make, saving as many times as I need to, then when I'm 99% certain I'm done making changes I export. It seems to work fine for me. I suggest you guys try it."

This should be looked at in de-bugging I guess.

Suggestion

Remodel end of career fielding rating declines/disappearance.

Reason

The current modeling for this in some cases makes no sense. Take a center fielder who no longer shows ratings, but seems to have lost no speed and no batting eye, both still good. If he can no longer perform in center field it seems his speed would also be gone, or his eye/hand coordination would be gone. This player sure seems like he still deserves a rating in center. It seems more likely he would retain some ability in center even after the speed starts to decline and the hitting eye declines.

Similar integration of related ratings apply to other player positions.

The point is that players losing fielding ratings should see this more closely coordinated with loss in other relevant ratings.

Player end of career ratings declines needs to be reworked to reflect a more integrated approach.

Priority

Medium. With most of the main structures of OOTP settling in place its becoming time to revisit and refine the player modeling.
