After helping Kagnew with a few things earlier, I failed to remember that you simply cannot export and import ratings. So, no. It won't work.

Not in online leagues, but if you do them based off of the MLB rosters on your own computer then export a text file it should be easy enough to copy and paste an organization at a time into a single csv file.

I can do a team if someone shows me how to upload it or however you share. I am gone for the weekend but can work on some teams starting monday. I do tend to overrate prospects and younger players. I have my baseball prospectus and baseball america so i won't mind doing any team except for the yankees. One question are you also editing the coaches and staff.

The idea was to use the league to have each gm, (commish) edit his team and export his team file to the league. Don't understand why this is not possible as a commish can edit/

OOTP Roster Team

Hey Cubby and gang,
You guys are more than welcome to use my roster set as a starting place or as needed if you wish - The 1.0 of the roster set is up on PadresFan's website. I only have AAA, AA, and A. The good thing is you would not have to "guess" on batting & pitching ratings - I imported PECOTA stats for ~ 1,800 players and created each team's top 11 prospects and this is a great starting place. Some players will need to be tweaked if you are looking for accuracy as this real 2008 season has gone. Also the Leigh Valley Iron Pigs will need to be added in the minors. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...set-1-0-a.html Features: • Over 1,800 players rated based on Baseball Prospectus PECOTA stats for 2008. • Roster will include ALL NRI’s invited to Spring Training. (most will be at an appropriate minor league level) • The History of MLB pre-2007 is included! • REAL 2008 MLB Schedule (created by GMO on the OOTP boards) • Over 330+ prospects created based on each team’s top 11 as per Baseball Prospectus; star system is based on Baseball Prospectus scouting reports for each prospect. • Injured players as of before the start of Spring per CBS Sportsline. • Market based structure – larger market teams will have more money available. • Injury Proneness based on Ron Shandler’s Baseball Forecaster 2008; player’s medical history available up to 5 years back. What this means – Darin Erstad and Ken Griffey Jr are more prone to leg injuries, Mark Prior and Carl Pavano more prone to arm injuries, etc. The higher frequency of injuries to the same location of the body is reflected by a higher # of injury proneness (scale is up to 200). • MLB & Minor league stadium park factors based on Gambo’s spreadsheets. • Accurate pitcher’s velocity & repertoire for a majority of major league pitchers and top prospects. • Misc data / insights gathered from USA Today Sports Weekly, Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, mlb.com, milb.com, baseball-reference.com. What is NOT included: • Actual Jersey #’s • Actual salaries / contracts / service time; I believe OOTP does not know how to properly handle 200+ million dollar payrolls. Instead, I’ve reduced the average salary down, thus larger market teams will still have more $ available compared to smaller market teams. I let OOTP determine salary amounts based on talent level. • Several Prospects may not have their correct height / weight. I’ll update these as I catch them (most are at a default 5’10”, 190lbs). CBL Judgment Calls There are a few items in the roster set I’ve deemed “judgment calls” such as • Pitcher Endurance set to normal – this will result in more IP and more CG from starting pitchers that real life MLB. With Endurance set to low, it seems to me the entire MLB pitching staffs are always tired, even with 12 men. |

Honestly while I am using your rosters myself right now, I would rather base the 2009 set off of the rosters that Erich built just so we can "start fresh." Have ran into problems in the past building off of other roster sets and then seeing issues later (not that we would with yours).
I'm going to put together a plan of attack this afternoon, and we'll go from there. I think the first step is for me to knock out the PECOTA'd players along with some ZiPS and then for us to go from there. I think I can get that done fairly quickly. |

Have you consulted Tangotiger's Marcel's, and his comparisons of the various prediction systems?

CBL like your set, ratings seem pretty good. just checked Red Sox, but look better than in game set.

... Why would this be considered dead after a single afternoon of no replies?
Anyways, I started putting together a comparison of prospect ratings in a spreadsheet. However, because this speadsheet will contain information that is only available via purchase or subscription, I don't feel comfortable distributing it publicly. Maybe privately to Cubbys, though? It's going to have both organization and universal rankings from 5 separate sources. On a completely different note, though: Does anyone else favor a minor universal bump in ratings? My problem with past roster sets has been that minor league batters always have trouble putting up even halfway decent stats, while minor league pitchers have great ERAs but no strikeouts (edit: This is in the sense that it is virtually impossible for a minor league pitcher to get higher than a 7 K/9, which is ridiculous.) I'm not sure if this is because of ratings, or if the league totals for strikeouts are too low, or what, but I'm thinking that we need to bump up literally everyone's ratings by a small amount, just so that players can actually succeed at minor league levels. I think that AAA should contain players who will struggle in the majors, sure, but that can at least handle it. The game seems to promote anyone to the majors the second they can put up a .600 OPS (slight hyperbole), but a universal ratings bump would fix that. Totally agree. I'm trying to figure out the best course of action from where we are without wasting too much time... I have an entire day off tomorrow so I can knock out a ton of work.

Update: So far, I've compiled rankings for the entire AL East and Central from Sickels, Project Prospect, and the Analyst. I have to find my BA book before I can imput theirs, and I plan on doing BP later on as well.
This is more work than I expected it to be, but I'm also in a ridiculously deep franchise baseball leagure, so it can only help me to study. |

No... I mean, from what I've heard/seen, would he really be the type to understand prospect development? Or the type to know and reference 5+ prospect sources? I would doubt it.
But nope, I'm a born Red Sox fan, and APujols' damn Cards are not on my good side this evening.

Another update: I just finished compiling all 5 rankings from the entire AL East and Central. Basically, any AL East/Central player that was named by a ranking is now on my sheet... Consequently, there are a lot of players (336 and counting) listed.
If we use this for the game, any prospect with any sort of future is going to have some potential, I guess. It pisses me off when I load up a roster set and even the 12 best prospect in the real-life system has a potential rating of 20. Which, again, is why OOTP needs a "likelihood to reach potential" rating. |
