Yes, when Fox has national broadcast rights from 1 est to 7 est on Saturdays. This means that I can only watch the game being brodcast on my local Fox channel and this MLB extra innings is blacked out from 1 to 7 my time. So, lets say Fox has the Red Sox Yankees game on at 1 est, and the cardinals are on at 4 est. I still won't be able to watch the cardinals, or any other game for that matter, after the Sox Yankees Game. And that, is the heart of my problem. If you are going to limit me to one game on Saturdays from 1 to 7, then add some variety. Unfortunately when its a Sox Yanks weekend, its Sox Yanks on Friday night baseball (MLB Extra innings isn't blacked out so I can watch anything), Sox Yanks on Fox Saturday, and Sox Yanks on Sunday night.

It gets old...

Yes. If Fox has the rights to the game, it's blacked out. So in the east it was Sox/Yanks or nothin' at all.

The best time to complain about over-coverage by ESPN of the Yankees and Red Sox was probably NOT the day that ESPN was broadcasting the annual spring scrimmage between the two halves of your university's football team. Now THAT was a waste of air time.

Its better than a Scrabble tournament or spelling bee. There's no doubt the quality of ESPN programming has gone down but that's got nothing to do with this thread.

Show me any documented article that specifically says Red Sox or Yankees fans behave worse than Cardinals fans. I want it to say "Red Sox fans behaviour is worse than Cardinals fans behaviour."

I can remember being at Pacers playoffs games back in the late 90's and the fans chanting things about bringing on the Knicks and derogatory things about the Knicks. So chanting things about a team you aren't playing isn't something that is exclusive to the Red Sox and Yankees.

I also remember being at Wrigley Field when Lenny Dykstra had just been arrested for DWI and the Cubs fans throwing their beers at him. Remember when Philly fans booed Santa and cheered Michael Irvin being carried out on a stretcher? I think there are far worse fans all over the nation than Sox and Yankees fans.

Also I remember reading about St. Louis fans cheering LaRussa right after he got arrested for DWI ... that's pretty cool. So I guess I can just say that Cardinals fans support drinking and driving right?

NEW YORK (AP)—A construction worker’s bid to curse the New York Yankees by planting a Boston Red Sox jersey in their new stadium was foiled Sunday when the home team removed the offending shirt from its burial spot.

After locating the shirt in a service corridor behind what will be a restaurant in the new Yankee Stadium, construction workers jackhammered through the concrete Sunday and pulled it out.

The team said it learned that a Sox-rooting construction worker had buried a shirt in the new Bronx stadium, which will open next year across the street from the current ballpark, from a report in the New York Post on Friday.

Yankees President Randy Levine said team officials at first considered leaving the shirt where it was.

“The first thought was, you know, it’s never a good thing to be buried in cement when you’re in New York,” Levine said. “But then we decided, why reward somebody who had really bad motives and was trying to do a really bad thing?”

On Saturday, construction workers who remembered the employee, Gino Castignoli, phoned in tips about the shirt’s location.


“We had anonymous people come tell us where it was, and we were able to find it,” said Frank Gramarossa, a project executive with Turner Construction, the general contractor on the site.

What game? Sounds like the elimination game of a playoff round. Completely different than chanting Red Sox Suck in the middle of July when the next series against them is a month away.

In case you failed to read what I wrote above, every team has obnoxious fans. Its just the the Red Sox and Yankees seem to have more.

This is the kind of crap, that give Yankee and Red Sox fans a bad name. I don't care how die hard you are for sports, this is just wrong and there are many many many more stories just like these. I'm sure most Red Sox / Yankees fans are not like this, but it seems to be all too common when the two cities meet.

Yeah and OSU fans pummeled MSU fans with beer bottles ... so? Where in those articles does it say Red Sox Fans and Yankees fans are worse than Cardinals fans? You are pointing out a few idiots ... where are your articles saying there are more unruly Red Sox fans than say Philadelphia Eagles fans? Or St. Louis Cardinals fans? Where is your data to say there are more?

Are there more because more people are fans of them? Maybe but there is not a higher % of unruly fans in Boston or New York than any other city with a sports team. This is just your opinion nothing more, nothing less.

Depends on what you consider worse. There are certainly fanbases with fewer trendy idiots. The Red Sox/Yankees basically seem to me like the Raiders/White Sox of the early 90s as far as lame ass fanbases go.

All I'll say is that the Red Sox and Yankees are the two teams with the highest road attendences, which translates to national interest.

Networks only care about ratings. They don't really care if they are representing regional fans interests.

"Ya know we should really give the Twins/Royals game some national attention some air time to be fair this weekend." - ain't going to be something you're going to hear.

They care that Chevy will buy ad time or his little glowing images projected in the background.

So calling us a-holes because of your frustration seems shortsighted. And I won't get into the hypocrisy of having a Florida Gator practice shown on ESPN whereas a real sporting event could have been shown. It was either that, fishing, or espnews when i was at the gym. I settled for Me, Myself, and Irene, but I didn't it without thinking that the reason the game was on was because of those a-hole Gator fans.

Well, with the way people move around more nowadays, I can see how a Cards fan can end up in Florida (or Seattle or wherever). ANd even if someone were to live in Florida all their life. If they had been a Card fan before 1993. Why mess with your team loyalty.

Me, I am a Royal/Blue Jay fan. And living in VA, my nearest teams are Baltimore/Washington. Baltimore is probably the only team I really dislike. ( to the Oriole fans, no hard feelings?) Anyhow, I became a Royal fan because my first favorite players were Dan Quisenberry and George Brett. Blue Jays were more gradual. I think it was because my dad being a Yankee fan, it kind of fit (divisional rivals and all)

And my dad, well, he has been a Yankee fan since he was 8 or 9, when DiMaggio was still around. And when I visit him on Sundays, if there is a Yankee game on. We WILL be watching it.

I really have no idea where I am going with this.
