Mora looked really solid on the Contender the other night .. certainly would have been an entertaining fight since they both have unusual styles and throw a ton of punches.

Maybe they should put the Mora/Ouma and Forbes/Bojado fight on the card that is being headlined by Alfonso Gomez in October. Would make perfect sence but it probably wouln't happen. |

I have no clue. After they did that one with Cintron/Margarito, it was like they had no futher interest in doing PPV's anymore. If they thought about putting those three fights on the "Contender" special they are having in October, that would get excellent ratings.

I just finished whatching this weeks episode of "The Contender". First off, it's shame to see that Henry Buchanan had to leave the show but the guy they brought back, Miguel Hernandez, is nothing special. Buddy should have picked Bunting. He has way more promise than Hernandez does.
Secondly, Vera is a real coward for talking mess behind Codrington's back and then when Banks instigated their little war of words, you could tell that would be the first showdown of the new season. Early in the fight, Vera had tagged Codrington with some good punches but he kept his hands down and "The Don" had a late flurry to steal round one. Then in the second, Vera tried trading with Codrington and it ended up costing him as he was stunned and knocked down early in the round. He gets up and instead of covering up, he goes back to trading with Codrington and ends up getting floored again and that is when the ref stopped the fight. Vera is a very raw fighter that has very poor defensive fundimentals but it's probably not the last time you'll hear from him because he makes for exciting fights. Codrington took some big shots right on the chin but it held up pretty well and might dispel some of the talk regarding what happened in the Allan Green fight. |

Damn I hate Codrington I agree Vera is very raw but landed some good shots. I see how they got out of the unven number of fights only the top 4 will move onto the semi final

Yeah I saw that. They will probably have an elimination match to determine who gets the last spot. Even though you hate Codrington, he's probably going on to the next round with his quick work of Vera.

I don't really care for Codrington but I am rooting for him and Paul Smith because they would be the best thing for the show and boxing.
That was a pretty nice beat down. Codrington talked Vera out of his game and made him pay for it. I go back to the fact that I kinda want my boxers to be punks. If I'm Codrington now I keep telling Soliman he needs to take out Bika. More than likely that is a split decision and would knock both fighters out of the next round. Previews made it look like it will be Banks and either Smith or Alexander next week. They probably had to change the format because last year sucked so badly. Only 8 total fights this year and not everyone who wins 1 fight gets to move on to the next round. They should of had the 4th and 5th place guy have a fight-in to see who faces the #1 guy. Nothing more to add from what everyone has said except to say that Vera's girlfriend was HOT!

I don't know .. I'm not a fan of your state Kent ... she looked like the stereotypical NY girl from movies and videos. Just not my type at all.
By the way I watch the movie "Yellow" last night and it had Rosalyn Sanchez nude in it ... so I give it thumbs up. Rosalyn Sanchez ... gets my mexican blood thumping!!!! |

I agree that Soliman won tonight but 50-44 and to an extent 49-45 seemed a bit too much. I had it 49-46. Max Alexander is a nice little prospect, if he gets a good trainer who keeps his head on straight he could make a name for himself.

I scored the fight 49-46 for Soliman but Alexander should have nothing to be ashamed of. He needs some more seasoning and a good trainer. Right now he's a A-/B+ prospect.
Soliman's style will give any of the remaining fits and I wouldn't be surprised if he got all the way to the final. |

The typical awkward Soliman fight. Alexander did ok with what he had. He has nothing to be ashamed of 1 loss will not end his career. I agree Soliman can make anyone look bad and wouldn't be surprise if he makes the final. I was surprised how Alexander seem to hurt Soliman a few times considering he only has 2 KO maybe he hits harder then the 2KO may indicate
