Why do you have GH at the end of all your posts? DB would be more fitting.

It's not an "opposing viewpoint" if someone makes a post just to insult someone else.

Those are good defensive series. They especially did their job on that final drive -- they stopped them at the 44 with time running out. That's a win almost every time. They wouldn't have been in a position where it even mattered if the offense hadn't given up two touchdowns.

Only a Philadelphia fan would somehow decide the defense was at fault for this loss. Is it time to run Jim Johnson out of town now?

Actually lots of people are calling for Johnson's head. Personally I think he doesn't have very good personnel right now, particularly in the back 7.

The thing that is killing them on D right now is that they can't get off the field, they are getting killed in TOP.

That bonehead penalty by McDougle was just as much a reason as anything else.

To say the defense was completely free of blame in this would be wrong though, again, they just had to stop them from moving the ball 25 yards in 30 seconds to seal a victory. The offense put them in a bad spot today though with the INT's and fumbles and Reid's typical idiotic clock management.

4 or 5 plays cost this team the game and if just ONE had went the other way this is probably an easy victory.

Oh brother, change the diaper, Marc. My first posts about this weren't anything insulting. I disagreed with your analysis of the game and you got your Pampers in a bunch.

You depress me. I don't have the speed to play defensive back anymore. Thanks for reminding me...

I never said you insulted me. You stuck up for BAB and said he was giving an opposing view point when in fact all he did was post an insult.

They DID stop them from moving 25 yards in 30 seconds. That last drive was only twenty yards. They stopped them at the 44. That's exactly what you want your defense to do in that situation. The problem was a) Tampa Bay's kicker made the kick of a lifetime and b) Philadelphia's offense had made enough major screw-ups that a kick-of-a-lifetime could actually cost them the game.

Seriously, the defense allowed 200 yards and 9 points. You can't ask for much better.

mlyons,

While we may disagree on the D's role today. They are currently ranked 26th in the league. So whether or not you wanna place any blame on them today is fine but they certainly deserve the blame for the other 2 losses and for the near loss to Dallas. Thank God Bledsoe is colorblind.

Something needs to be done on that side of the ball because no team that moves the ball at will like the Eagles have this season should be 4-3.

As a whole yes. The timing in which they decide to give up their yards and points couldn't be worse though.

Again, lots of blame to be placed. Maybe Reid deserves the most since if he just kicks the damn FG at the end of the first half, this thread never happens.

Can we atleast agree that his clock management skills are in the bottom 3 among Head Coaches in the NFL?

I haven't looked at all the team stats, but it's hard for me to believe that a team can be 4-3 when the quarterback has 16 TD passes to 5 INT, and is averaging a pile of yards per attempt, unless the running game, defense, and/or the special teams aren't doing the job. TBH I haven't had confidence in the Eagles D all year, but on the surface it would appear to me that they've been unimpressive in every phase of the game other than throwing the ball.

Eagles D is ranked 26th in the league

Here are the teams below them:
Tennessee
New York Jets
Green Bay
Detroit
San Francisco
Houston

That's pathetic. While I'm not ready to fire Johnson, I'm not sure what his supporters can really say to defend him. My personal belief is that they flat out haven't drafted very well lately and he doesn't have the personnel (particularly at Linebacker) to run the defense that he runs.

They are also 1st in total offense.

Here's another fun fact, They are ranked 29th in Time of Possession. Now I'll put a little blame on Reid for his pass happy style but even when the defense isn't giving up points they give up long time consuming drives (see 4th quarter drives by NO and TB the last 2 weeks).

Teams ranked below them in TOP:
Oakland
Tennessee
Houston

They also ran for over 200 yards today, the only reason they aren't a better running team is because Reid doesn't run the ball enough. Westbrook averages over 5 YPC and Buckhalter was at 4.1 coming into the game. Absolutely nothing wrong with the running game.

I guess I should place blame on the special teams for today as well. Akers kickoff went to the 1 and they let him bring it out to the damn 36 yard line. If they stop him shy of the 30 they probably win the damn game.

So frustrating. Next week is a must win. 5-3 going into the bye week wouldn't be TOO bad, though I expected atleast 6-2 before the season started.

They really haven't played a tough schedule at all so it's very discouraging to not have atleast 6 wins. Even more discouraging that their D is ranked so poorly when they have played some of the worst teams in the NFL up to this point.

If Tampa can learn to Tackle they wouldn't even had needed that last second field goal.

If Andy Reid had any concept of clock management, Tampa would have been lining up for a Hail Mary at the end of the game.
