Have "missing plays" from 6.5 been added to V2006? - Page 3

Yeah that's been missing during my time I've been playing the OOTP series. It really, really, really, really should be there. It's hard to argue that the winner of the World Series (or league championship) is the most news note worthy thing of an entire season.

I had TT'd that as a feature request and I believe it is going to be set for V2007.

As far as shutout stories etc, I am all for getting more in the XML. I was away for a 1 week and a half so I didn't get more involved in starting more new stories, but please EC, keep writing. I am sure M's Rule will help out. We can switch this conversation to PM though.

Eugene, here's one for ya. Ran across this while doing some PbP debugging. First batter of the inning tries to bunt for a hit, and the second baseman gets the putout at first on a play that goes 2-4.

[292-14933] no one out...
[188-8653] Zito toes the slab...
winds and fires...
[308-7610] Jose Guillen bunts it...
[157-7851] spinning around near the plate...
[176-14678] Hernandez picks it up...
the throw to Menechino who covers first base...
[205-9819] in time to get Guillen by several steps...
one out.

I love this game but I can't quite understand the logic that was used when trying to decide which basic parts of baseball to omit from this version. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for those discussions.

Sorry to rant, but this aspect really bugs me the more I play this game. Would it really be that hard to add this to the mix? I would think that it would be similar to the other event triggers like 5 hits in a game, shut outs, etc. This trigger is even easier to account for since it occurs only once a season.

Markus, can you throw those us a bone here? Just add the trigger and let us write our own news stories if you are pressed for time.

I read on the Forum that this will be worked on for V2007.

The game should have already had this...many versions ago.

I just downloaded the 1.2 patch and played out a game pitch-by-pitch.

This patch is a great improvement over the initial release in the PBP department.

The guys did a great job on cutting down the length of the text phrases and it flows much better. I was impressed with the improvement.

The PBP in the initial version of the game sent me into depression and I went back to OOTP6.5.

I decided to wait a few patches before creating my universe, but will play around with the game, since I need to learn how to navigate it.

I will probably wait until 1.3 to set up my dream baseball universe.

Anyway, PBP is much better than in the initial release.

Can't speak for the rest of the game though. I have to learn how to play it first before I can evaluate it. But it looks like it is getting better and better as time goes by...judging by the reasonable guys on the board here.

I am still waiting for the RF/LF/SS/2B to catch a foul fly. It didn't happen in my first game...but it should happen soon...in a game near me.

I hope.

I just saw a sac. bunt, with the pitcher fielding and attempting to get the runner at second, but he was safe. Play was scored correctly as well. Hadn't seen that in previous versions.

Great to hear. I have never seen it in previous versions.

We are slowly getting a realistic baseball game.

I had a runner gunned down at second trying to stretch a single into a double. I also saw a play where the ball hit the pitcher and deflected to the second baseman who then tossed the ball to first base for the out.

Good to hear...progress is being made.

Since OOTP3 I have had only 3 players thrown out trying to stretch a single to a double.

I think the frequency of the play was supposed to be increased in V2006.

A couple more I don't recall seeing in past versions: pitcher throwing error on pickoff attempt at first, and another E-1 dropped throw on a 3-1 groundball play.

Since we will soon get 1.0.3 patch, I should start my new baseball universe soon. I have a lot to learn about the new version.

I think Markus will get the game's major flaws fixed this time.
