Ok, thanks. One more question: on the screens where it's at 50% when idle, is there a scrollbar? I just started a new game, and go straight to the news screen (no news; no scrollbar) and it's at 0%. Can one of you try that?

I've noticed on mine that cpu usage goes up to 100% while viewing/deleting players on the transactions page (like when you're deleting players that you don't want). But I noticed that when you right click on a player and the dialog box comes up, then CPU usage drops to 0%.

Graeme you could be on to something there. I just tried that, started a couple of different new games to see and both times the news page on any team has cpu usage of 0% and no scrollbar. All the other screens, roster etc are still showing 50%

EDIT: Could definitely be this, i've just gone into another league that I just started and was at 50% with scrollbar. Filtered the news to contract news only which is empty at present and has no scrollbar. CPU use went back to 0%

Yep, same here. If I filter my news page to something like unread messages, CPU usage goes down to 0%. If I set it to ALL messages (with a scroll bar) it shoots back up to 99%.

Ok, this looks more and more like the problem. Just noticed when I went into rosters page on full screen that because the screen was big enough there are no scroll bars. Checked taskbar and sure enough 0%. Went back to windowed whilst same page on screen, scrollbar now there and 50% cpu.

Ok, waiting on a reply from Markus on this. The fix definately seems to work here, so it could be that it just missed the cut off for the patch last night which is why you're still experiencing the issue. Or could be something more sinister. I'll await Markus' reply and we should have some news on this tomorrow.

An update here

OK first off yes I have installed the patch.

Yes I have the ticker turned off

System Intel P 4 3.2 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, Radeon X300 with 256 MB on board, 30+ gigs of HD space.

Here is what I just noticed when researching something else. When I leave the game sit on the Manager news or League news the CPU usages spikes up on my system to 60 to 80%. As soon as I leave the Manager or League news usage drops back down to 10 to 15%.

I have not had any problems with the usage spiking above that so this may or may not be the problem but I figured I would add what I discovered here to the knowledge base in hopes of helping someone else.

Here's a picture of what I'm seeing. Have no idea of whether its expected or not.

Running the 1.1 patch
System info -- Pentium 4 -- 1.7 Ghz 750MB of Ram Windows XP home with current updates - SP2

When the game is executing something, that's when its pegged at 100% CPU usage. I'm playing pitch by pitch. The longer stretches pegged at 100% are the longer PBP sequences. Then then next spike is when I click the mouse to end that pitch and reset for the next. So each spike is a mouse click, one spike for pbp, one spike for reset. Its dropping all the way down to 2% or 4% or something like that between clicks.

PbP text set on Very Fast, Delay by Line. SION network set to No, so no games running in background.

Sorry if the picture isn't clear ... that's the size I had to make it to get it under 100kb. But I think you might see enough to go along with the description. Click ... 100% cpu ... pbp done for pitch 4% cpu ... click 100% cpu ... ready for next pitch 4% cpu. ....etc.

1gb RAM
32mb video RAM
XP SP2
Directx 9c
